Full Job Description
Early-stage venture fund founded by experienced operators and investors from some of the most influential companies in tech is looking for a high-agency, relationship-oriented Chief of Staff to help run and build the next phase of the firm. In this role, you'll work closely with the partners across founder experience, firm operations, events, communications, and LP relations, taking ambitious ideas and personally making them happen while also building the systems behind them. One day might mean owning a founder dinner end to end, the next drafting the quarterly LP letter, and the next making sure a portfolio company gets exactly the introduction it needs. Someone who is a firecracker: exceptionally organized, resourceful, creative, and low-ego, with great taste, strong writing skills, and a genuine bias toward action, someone who acts like an owner and doesn't wait to be told what to do. This is a hybrid role based in the Bay Area, with 1-2 days/week in the Portola Valley office plus in-person attendance for events, dinners, and site visits. 175-225K DOE + discretionary bonus, full benefits, 401K with 4% match, and flexible PTO.

Responsibilities:
  • Own founder dinners end to end, including venues, guest lists, sponsors, logistics, and on-site execution.
  • Play a central role in the firm's annual team celebration, offsites, and other founder and LP events, bringing creativity, taste, and hospitality to every detail.
  • Build strong relationships with founders as a trusted extension of the investment team, proactively identifying where the firm can help.
  • Participate in portfolio communication threads and investor updates, ensuring founder asks get closed out quickly.
  • Mobilize the partners and firm's network around introductions, fundraising, recruiting, launches, and other high-value needs.
  • Turn firm priorities into plans and drive them through completion, keeping important projects and follow-ups from falling through the cracks.
  • Build better systems across portfolio support, LP relationships, CRM, events, and communications.
  • Work closely with the team's EA, delegating tactical execution while providing context, prioritization, and quality control.
  • Help tell compelling stories about the firm, its founders, and its investment focus through announcements, interviews, newsletters, social, and partner content.
  • Lead quarterly LP updates, fundraising materials, data-room coordination, and follow-ups, and help create an exceptional experience for existing and prospective LPs.
  • Use AI and modern tools aggressively to increase the team's leverage.

Qualifications:
  • 5-10+ years of experience in venture capital, startups, a founder's office, operations, communications, or a Chief of Staff-type role in a high-performance environment.
  • High agency, with the ability to see what needs to happen and figure it out without being told.
  • Exceptional organization, detail orientation, and follow-through.
  • Resourceful and scrappy, with no task considered beneath them if it matters.
  • Excellent writer with strong grammar and sound judgment.
  • Strong taste and instinct for thoughtful, polished experiences.
  • Relationship-oriented and comfortable engaging with founders, LPs, investors, and senior executives.
  • AI-native and always looking for better ways to work.
  • Hardworking, optimistic, low-ego, and enjoyable to work with.
  • Exceptional discretion with confidential information.
