The RoleThe Chief of Staff (CoS) will be a motivated and adaptable individual who will ensure the Senior Executive can execute against defined priorities. The CoS will act as a strategic advisor, a problem solver, a communicator, and a facilitator for the organization. This individual will help the Senior Executive identify the areas where they must direct their focus and help streamline activities. The Chief of Staff also partners closely with the Executive Assistant to strategically manage the leader's time and help determine fit with the priorities.
The Chief of Staff has a vital and influential role that supports the leader and the organization in achieving their goals and objectives. The CoS is also a leader of leaders, who helps to foster a culture of collaboration, excellence, and innovation within the organization.
The Main ResponsibilitiesThe job responsibilities of a CoS may vary depending on the size, type, and culture of the organization, as well as the preferences and needs of the leader. However, some common responsibilities include:
- Define and execute direct and extended staff meeting agendas. This includes cadence of town halls, all hands meetings, management meetings, 1 on 1 reviews, and operation reviews.
- Ensure Executive is thoroughly prepared for all external and large internal meetings; manage necessary prep calls, ensure prep information is consolidated into a digestible format, etc.
- Partner with HR on people planning (work force planning, location strategy, org structure management, and people metrics)
- Lead or support strategic initiatives and projects that span across the organization or involve multiple departments or functions.
- Identify and resolve issues and conflicts that arise within the organization or affect the leader's agenda.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to the leader's direct reports and other staff members.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance and progress of the organization and the leader's goals and objectives.
- Coordinate and manage organizational goals & objectives
- Coordinate employee recognition and culture efforts
- Partner with Executive Assistant to coordinate Executive's time aligned to internal and external priorities
What We Look For in a Candidate- Proven track record of success in an operational role where executive priorities are translated in to actionable plans that can be tracked.
- Executive presence and excellent communication skills
- Ability to navigate complex stakeholder management situations
- Attention to detail across a broad range of contexts and topics
- Experience with Business Operations and Planning, Business Transformation and/or Management Consulting is a plus
- The ideal candidate will have 5 years' experience in a similar role with a Bachelor's degree.
- Advanced Powerpoint, Excel and Word skills
CompensationThis information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
Location Based Pay Ranges:
$149,084 - $198,779 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.
$156,539 - $208,718 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.
$163,993 - $218,657 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
