Position Summary - Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Asante Three Rivers Medical CenterThe Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Asante Three Rivers Medical Center (ATRMC) reports to the Chief Executive Officer of ATRMC. The CMO provides strategic and operational leadership for clinical quality, patient safety, physician and advanced practice provider engagement, and overall clinical performance. In partnership with hospital and medical staff leadership, the CMO ensures the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care.
The CMO fosters collaboration among physicians, advanced practice providers, clinical teams, and administrative leaders to advance organizational goals. This role oversees clinical governance, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and physician leadership while supporting strategic growth, operational excellence, and innovation across the organization.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Quality & Safety
- Lead quality, patient safety, and clinical standardization initiatives while ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Drive hospital-wide efforts to improve clinical outcomes, reduce preventable harm, and support a culture of continuous improvement.
Medical Staff Leadership
- Serve as the liaison between medical staff and administration; oversee credentialing, peer review, physician performance, engagement, and leadership development.
- Foster physician collaboration, accountability, and alignment with organizational goals.
Clinical Operations
- Partner with hospital leadership to improve patient flow, capacity management, physician services, ICU operations, ED throughput, and care delivery.
- Provide physician leadership for operational improvement initiatives that enhance access, efficiency, and patient experience.
Strategy & Growth
- Support strategic planning, service line growth, new programs and technologies, and alignment of quality outcomes with financial stewardship.
- Identify and advance opportunities for innovation, market growth, and long-term organizational success.
QualificationsRequired
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
- Current Oregon Medical Board licensure.
- Minimum of 10 years of clinical experience.
- At least 3 years of leadership experience within a physician practice group, medical group, or healthcare organization.
Preferred
- Board certification in a clinical specialty.
- Master's degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), or related field.
- Experience leading quality improvement, clinical integration, population health, and value-based care initiatives.
- Experience working with electronic health records (EHRs) and healthcare technology platforms.
