Class Code: 0190JOB DESCRIPTIONPosition Title: Chief Information Officer
Responsible To: Superintendent
Basic Function: To research, develop, implement, and maintain an Education
Technology Plan that uses, to the best advantage, the technological
capabilities of the district for the delivery and improvement of
instruction and management. The CIO will oversee the District's
technology hardware and software applications and ensure all
components of the Comprehensive District Improvement Plan related
to technology education and technology integration are met.
Performance Responsibilities: - Identify needs of the school district in the area of technology.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the technology plan for the district.
- Provides assistance to principals, teachers, and SBDM Councils in the development and implementation of School Technology Plans.
- Develop and oversee the District Technology Budget (general fund, KETS, ERATE, NCLB, grants, etc.).
- Oversee all technology purchasing in the district to ensure KAR and procurement laws are met.
- Oversee the federal E-Rate program for the district.
- Evaluate on an annual basis the overall technology plans of the district and make resultant recommendations regarding the plans to the Superintendent and the Board of Education.
- Maintain a cooperative, collaborative relationship and open communication to those holding similar positions in other districts.
- Serve as a resource to teachers and other district staff and assists them with connections to the State Department of Education.
- Lead efforts in digital citizenship, appropriate uses of technology, and acceptable use policies.
- Facilitate and assist in the maintenance of district and school web sites.
- Participate in facility planning (i.e. new construction, renovations, telephone upgrades, etc.).
- Maintain licensing for all operating systems, software applications, and maintenance agreements for hardware and software applications.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the superintendent.
Minimum Qualifications: Valid Kentucky certification for teacher or administrator
Master's degree or higher
Minimum five (5) years of teaching, or related experience
Terms of Employment: Salary and work year to be established by the board of education.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of board policy for the evaluation of certified personnel.
