Full Job Description
As a member of the Executive team, the CFO reports directly to the Executive Director and is responsible for managing all activities related to the Agency's accounting and financial reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

Description:
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
  • Overall financial, control, planning, and treasury functions for all corporations and ventures;
  • Full range of financial activity and reporting oversight including payroll;
  • Formulation/ recommendation of policies on banking, receipt and disbursement of funds and fiscal and accounting matter;
  • Planning for fiscal viability of Agency and related organizations;
  • Extensive collaboration with the Executive Director pertaining to fiscal areas of Agency administration and forwarding the Agency mission;
  • Functioning as an Agency ambassador to funding sources, including Federal, State and Local agencies;
  • Review budgets/financial statements; monitor and analyze variances by operational segments and for the overall agency;
  • Oversight and direction for the preparation of the annual Agency budget;
  • Oversight of funding source and Agency audits; liaison between Agency and external parties.
Requirements:
The successful candidate's background and skill set must include all of the following:
  • BS in Accounting or Finance an MBA or CPA preferred;
  • 10+ years of relevant experience; minimum of five years in a supervisory role;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of non-profit financial practices and reporting requirements
  • Strong experience with Federal, State and Local funding grants, including budgeting and expenditure reporting regulations (particularly NJ Department of Human Service and NJ Department of Children and Family Services);
  • Knowledgeable in applicable audit standards, including OMB Circular A-133, NJ Department of Human Services/Department of Children & Families Contract Reimbursement Manual, as well as A-133 and Yellow Book audits;
  • Knowledgeable in billing systems, practices and regulations for NJ Medicaid, Medicare, commercial insurance and client fees;
  • Demonstrated ability to understand financial, statistical and human data and their interrelation in order to maintain a holistic view of the Agency;
  • Experience with nonprofit accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct, MIP Fund Accounting).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
