Chief Engineer-JLL

What this job involves:

As Chief Engineer for Engineering and Maintenance, you'll provide strategic leadership and technical direction for all facility infrastructure operations, building systems, and maintenance programs. This position serves as the key technical authority for the site, ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of critical systems while leading a skilled engineering team to operational excellence. You'll manage daily maintenance operations, work order execution, preventive maintenance compliance, vendor coordination, and asset reliability initiatives in alignment with both JLL and client expectations. At JLL, we believe the most effective teams are built when everyone is empowered to thrive-you'll create that environment by coaching your team, establishing clear expectations for quality and safety, and promoting a culture of ownership and continuous improvement. Partnering closely with the Engineering Manager, Facilities Management team, operations leadership, and client stakeholders, you'll drive service delivery, regulatory compliance, and system reliability across the facility.

What your day-to-day will look like:
• Lead, supervise, and develop engineering and maintenance personnel through daily coaching, technical direction, performance feedback, and training that strengthens team capability and promotes safety, teamwork, and accountability
• Manage comprehensive work order activity through CMMS platforms including Corrigo or ServiceNow-reviewing, prioritizing, assigning, and monitoring preventive, corrective, and project-related work orders while ensuring accurate documentation, on-time completion, and SLA compliance
• Oversee operation, maintenance, and reliability of critical facility infrastructure including electrical distribution, HVAC systems, plumbing, fire life safety, building automation systems, generators, UPS systems, and related equipment
• Coordinate and supervise vendors and contractors performing maintenance, repairs, inspections, and project work-providing technical oversight, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and evaluating performance
• Drive preventive maintenance program execution and compliance, using maintenance data and work order trends to identify recurring issues, operational gaps, and improvement opportunities that enhance equipment reliability
• Support facility emergencies, equipment failures, and operational concerns with expert troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action development to minimize disruption and restore system reliability
• Maintain regulatory compliance and safety across all operations by ensuring work adheres to JLL, client, OSHA, and site requirements while supporting Lockout/Tagout, electrical safety, and other high-risk work programs

Required qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required
• 7-10+ years of progressive experience in facilities engineering, maintenance operations, or critical infrastructure environments
• Minimum 3-5+ years of experience leading, supervising, or providing technical direction to engineering or maintenance teams
• Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire life safety, building automation, generators, UPS systems, and related facility infrastructure
• Demonstrated experience managing work orders, preventive maintenance programs, corrective maintenance, vendor coordination, and maintenance documentation
• Proven experience using CMMS platforms such as Corrigo, ServiceNow, Maximo, or similar maintenance management systems
• Strong leadership, communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities with capacity to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced facility environments

Preferred qualifications:
• Associate degree, trade school completion, technical certification, or equivalent military experience in engineering or facilities management
• Experience supporting large-scale corporate campuses, mission-critical facilities, laboratories, advanced technology environments, manufacturing facilities, or data center operations
• Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS), Building Management Systems (BMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), and electrical power monitoring systems
• Professional certifications such as Universal EPA Certification, Certified Plant Engineer (CPE), Facilities Management Professional (FMP), Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA), or equivalent technical credentials
• Experience managing preventive maintenance programs, work order backlogs, asset reliability initiatives, and engineering performance metrics within client-facing facilities management environments
• Experience coordinating facility shutdowns, infrastructure maintenance activities, operational risk management programs, and supporting critical system commissioning and turnover
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, specifications, and procedures while maintaining professional communication with clients, vendors, and leadership
