Full Job Description
Chief eDrive System Engineer

Location: Riverside, CA
Pay/Salary Range: $150,000 - 200,000

Position Summary
This position is fully responsible for the eDrive control system in ENC for all the programs and R/D activities in eDrive control system. As an expert in eDrive control systems, the person is the final-end technical guarder for the eDrive control system. The person is highly experienced and skilled in motor control algorithms, calibrations, inverter hardware, power module (IGBT/SiC) and eDrive system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, improve and calibrate the motor control algorithms for the traction motor system, steering actuator system, and air-compressor system, as well as other high-voltage actuator systems
  • Develop and improve the vehicle level controls features of the supervisory controls for the electrified powertrain components
  • Lead the development for the technical requirement definition of advanced motor controls and cross-functional vehicle level features, as well as responsible for the regulatory specifications for commercial vehicles in north American market
  • Work with cross-functional teams on electric drive and vehicle bring-up activities
  • Develop hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test cases for controls and software development for the eDrive system
  • Plan and perform algorithm testing in dynamometer, and vehicle test environment
  • Stays abreast of new technologies and competitive methods and products
  • Submit patents and trade secrets to advance ENC Intellectual Property portfolio in the field of drive controls

Position Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in algorithm design and testing in EV industry or equivalent experience
  • Expert in the theory and principle of AC electric machine drive and three-phase switching power converter topologies
  • Experience with steering system, air-compressor system
  • Fluency in using Matlab/Simulink, modeling and simulation of electric drives
  • Strong hands-on experience in high voltage/power/speed laboratory/vehicle environment as well as vehicle ECU interfaces and tools

Work Environment:
  • This is an onsite position based in Riverside, CA and requires being onsite.
