Full Job Description
Your New Role At Societal:

We are looking for a Chief Commercial Officer. In this role, you assume a pivotal role in driving the commercial strategy and business development for the combined entity encompassing CoreRx, Bend Biosciences and Societal CDMO to achieve business growth and market share. You will serve as an observing member of the Board of Directors and be responsible for the outstanding levels of customer service for existing clients and a strong focus on achieving the company's efforts to secure new clients. The CCO will oversee sales, marketing, business development and customer service teams, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals. You will serve as the business development representative for the organization identifying new clients, managing the sales cycle, and securing contracts for our drug product development and manufacturing (CDMO) business.

How You Will Make An Impact:

Commercial Strategy Development:
    1. Collaborate with the President and Board in the development and execution of the organization's strategic plan, leading an integrated planning process that articulates a strategic vision and establishes a roadmap for achieving short, medium, and long term objectives in a clear executable operating plan
    2. Develop and implement the company's commercial strategy to drive revenue growth and market expansion.
    3. Identify and evaluate new market opportunities and partnerships.
    4. Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions.

Sales and Marketing Leadership:
      1. Oversee the sales and marketing teams, setting performance targets and monitoring results.
      2. Develop and execute effective sales strategies to achieve revenue targets.
      3. Ensure marketing initiatives align with the company's brand and drive customer engagement.

Business Development:
    1. Lead business development efforts to expand the company's market presence.
    2. Establish and maintain relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders.
    3. Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including mergers and acquisitions.
    4. Develop a deep understanding of what the industry needs to better satisfy current and future clients.

Customer Experience:
    1. Ensure a customer-centric approach across all commercial activities.
    2. Oversee customer service teams to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
    3. Develop strategies to enhance the customer experience and foster loyalty.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
    1. Monitor and analyze commercial performance metrics and adjust strategies as needed.
    2. Provide regular reports on commercial activities and results to the CEO and board of directors.
    3. Ensure accountability and transparency in commercial operations.

Team Development and Management:
    1. Exhibit strong leadership to build, lead, and mentor a high-performing commercial team.
    2. Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
    3. Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities. Encourage and empower employees to own their learning and development.
    4. Conduct regular reviews of the existing organization and make the necessary changes in structure, systems and staff that will enable the team to meet the business goals and objectives.

    6. Sets performance standards and supports growth through delegation, continuous feedback, goal setting and performance management.

Leadership:
    1. Collaborate with the Finance, Human Resources, and Legal to ensure efficient processes and compliance to regulatory and financial requirements.
    2. Partner to deliver on client projects, setting the example for teamwork and collaboration.
    3. Exhibit professional behavior with both internal and external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company's policies and practices.
    4. Represent the organizational values and align daily actions with company culture. Champion our culture and empower employees to take ownership of their actions and behaviors.

Ideal Candidate Will Bring:
  • Proven experience as a Chief Commercial Officer, Chief Sales Officer, or similar executive role.
  • Generally, requires a bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or a related field: MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • Generally, requires a minimum of ten (10) years of experience leading and managing teams.
  • Proven ability to set direction, build strong cross functional relationships, clearly articulate a strong point of view and influence others while building an inclusive team environment and a unified approach to success.
  • Ability to present highly complex results and requirements to all levels, internal and external, respond effectively, and engage in meaningful discussions to develop solutions.
  • Strong business acumen, financial management, project management, analytical and presentation skills.
  • Strong collaboration and cross functional partnership skills; ability to influence and galvanize internal colleagues from all business functions.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing matters and trends as applicable to the pharmaceutical industry.
  • A good working knowledge of cGMP, ISO 9000, and other applicable regulatory requirements is a must.
  • Ability to emphasize performance and initiatives, optimize resources and analyze and solve problems.

Special Working Conditions

Occasional travel required (approximately 50%) for site visits, conferences, training seminars, and other business-related meetings.
