Lead Clinical Excellence Across Our Organization

The Children's Center of Hamden is seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) to provide strategic leadership for clinical services across the organization. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CCO will shape the organization's clinical vision, establish standards of excellence, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centered, trauma-informed, and evidence-based care.

This executive leader will oversee clinical quality, supervision, workforce development, risk management, care coordination, and clinical practice across all programs. Working closely with the Chief Medical Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and program leaders, the CCO will strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, promote innovation, and drive continuous quality improvement that leads to exceptional outcomes for the children, youth, and families we serve.

What You'll Do

As Chief Clinical Officer, you will:
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all clinical services across the organization.
  • Establish organization-wide clinical standards for assessment, treatment planning, care coordination, crisis response, discharge planning, documentation, and clinical supervision.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Clinical Standards Manual to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
  • Design and oversee a standardized Clinical Supervision Model that promotes staff competency, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Lead clinical quality improvement initiatives and monitor treatment effectiveness across all programs.
  • Establish and oversee a Clinical Risk Review Process in partnership with the Chief Medical Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Compliance, and program leadership.
  • Develop organization-wide Care Coordination Standards that strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and improve continuity of care.
  • Promote fidelity to evidence-based treatment models and best clinical practices.
  • Champion trauma-informed care and organization-wide implementation of proactive de-escalation strategies that reduce crises and minimize the use of physical restraint.
  • Provide functional leadership and consultation to clinical leaders across programs to ensure consistency and clinical excellence.
  • Lead clinical workforce development through training, coaching, mentorship, and leadership development initiatives.
  • Partner with executive leadership to support organizational strategy, program development, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, accreditation, licensing, payer, and organizational standards.
  • Review clinical performance data and implement improvement initiatives that strengthen outcomes, quality, and client safety.
  • Maintain required licensure and certifications while completing all required organizational training.
  • Model ethical leadership and maintain professional boundaries in accordance with the agency's Boundary Code of Ethics.
  • Foster an inclusive workplace culture that reflects the organization's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational success.

What We're Looking For
  • Current Connecticut independent clinical license (LCSW, LPC, or LMFT) or doctoral degree in a related behavioral health field.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive clinical leadership experience.
  • Experience leading behavioral health programs serving children, adolescents, and families.
  • Strong background in trauma-informed care, higher levels of care, evidence-based practices, and complex clinical risk management.
  • Demonstrated success developing clinical standards, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical supervision models.
  • Knowledge of regulatory, accreditation, licensing, and compliance requirements for behavioral health organizations.
  • Exceptional leadership, strategic planning, communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and collaborate effectively across executive leadership.

First-Year Priorities

During your first year, you will:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Clinical Standards Manual.
  • Launch an organization-wide Clinical Supervision Model.
  • Establish a formal Clinical Risk Review Process.
  • Develop standardized Care Coordination Standards that improve collaboration and client outcomes.
  • Strengthen clinical quality systems and establish consistent expectations across all clinical programs.
