JOB PURPOSE

The Chief Accounting Officer owns accounting at e2Companies, the close, the controls, the team, and the discipline that holds it all together. Reporting to the CFO and leading a team anchored by our Corporate Controller, this role governs accounting specifically while finance operates as its own department. The Chief Accounting Officer takes charge of a multi-entity function supporting rapid growth across data centers, commercial and industrial facilities, manufacturing, and large-scale infrastructure, bringing the rigor and reliability that scale demands. We are looking for a seasoned executive who arrives with the playbook in hand. This is a full-time, on-site seat, Monday through Friday, at our Bonita Springs, FL location.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the accounting function across all entities, including consolidated financial reporting, month-end and quarter-end close, technical accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Corporate Controller and the broader accounting team, setting clear standards for accuracy, timeliness, and accountability
  • Establish and enforce accounting policy in full compliance with US GAAP across a multi-entity structure
  • Govern internal controls and financial governance, driving SOX-equivalent readiness as the company scales
  • Own and drive internal audits end to end, from planning and readiness through fieldwork and remediation
  • Coordinate and manage external auditors as engaged, including audit readiness, the annual audit calendar, auditor management, and timely remediation of findings
  • Serve as the executive liaison to audit firms, tax advisors, and regulators
  • Oversee federal, state, and local tax compliance, including the preparation and filing of federal and applicable state and local tax returns for relevant entities
  • Oversee the accounting, tax-reporting, controls, and documentation associated with tax-advantaged transactions, including investment tax credits and bonus depreciation, in coordination with Finance, Legal, and external tax advisors.
  • Lead future ERP implementations and optimization within our Sage Intacct environment, to build scalable systems, controls, and workflows
  • Collaborate closely with our internal legal team on entity structuring, contract matters, compliance, and corporate governance
  • Stand up the accounting infrastructure required for new entities, new markets, and international operations as they come online
  • Support capital raising, investor reporting, and board-level communication with accurate, audit-ready financials as needed
  • Partner with the Finance organization on planning and analysis while retaining clear executive ownership of accounting
  • Provide a consistent, hands-on, on-site executive presence, leading the team in person
  • Other duties as assigned

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (MUST-HAVE)
  • Active CPA license
  • 15+ years of progressive accounting experience inclusive of executive-level leadership
  • Master's degree in Accounting or proven equivalent experience
  • Deep command of US GAAP, consolidated financial reporting, and technical accounting
  • Proven multi-entity accounting leadership, including consolidations and intercompany structures
  • Demonstrated ownership of internal audits, from planning through remediation, and experience coordinating external auditors
  • Experience leading through controller-level leaders and scaling accounting teams
  • International accounting exposure, including multi-currency consolidations
  • OEM, manufacturing, energy, or industrial sector experience
  • Advanced ERP proficiency; Sage Intacct or comparable platform
  • Familiarity with SEC reporting and capital markets
  • Commitment to full-time, on-site work, Monday through Friday, at our Bonita Springs, FL location; relocation assistance available

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (NICE-TO-HAVE)

  • Florida CPA license, or licensure with reciprocity to Florida
  • Bilingual proficiency
  • Direct Sage Intacct experience

WHO YOU ARE

  • You set the standard, bringing structure to complexity and holding the line on accuracy, controls, and deadlines
  • You develop leaders, investing real coaching time in your team while staying close enough to the work to know when something is off
  • You treat accounting as a strategic function that earns its seat at the executive table, not a back office
  • You are energized by scale, building for the company we are becoming, not just the one we are today
  • You know the difference between standards and rigidity, protecting what must not bend while welcoming the collaboration and unconventional thinking a scaling company runs on

HERE'S WHAT YOU GET
  • Competitive compensation aligned with experience and impact
  • PTO and paid sick time to support work-life balance
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage
  • Equity participation through the Employee Incentive Program
  • 8 Paid Federal Holidays + "eHappy Days" (additional company-paid days off, announced at the start of each year)
  • Childcare assistance up to $300 per month
  • The opportunity to grow with a rapidly scaling energy and infrastructure company
  • A performance-driven, team-oriented culture with regular events and e2 for Good community initiatives
  • Relocation assistance for highly qualified candidates moving to Southwest Florida
