Job Responsibilities:
- Provide chemical engineering support for the facility, focusing on the Solvent Recovery Process and Central Electrolyte Storage System
- Developing and implementing safe work practices for employees working with hazardous material.
- Developing and implementing work instructions, such as Task Instruction sheets and Safe operating Procedures
- Develop and Implement procedures for Solvent Recovery Process quality control
- Ensure all Ultium safety policies and procedures are followed by contractors and internal resources
- Work with facilities maintenance department to help coordinate preventative maintenance, emergency maintenance and improvement projects on facilities systems
- Work with cross functional production groups to ensure process deliverables are met
- Work with Original Equipment Manufacturers for commissioning tasks, troubleshooting and problem solving
- Manage and review support documentation, with facilities supervisors and operators, for chemical related processes
- Provide troubleshooting support to facilities systems
- Provide input in early stages of construction for chemically related processes
- Execute projects within budget and complete on schedule. Coordinate project implementation with plant departments to insure no unplanned production disruptions
- Support Lean Manufacturing principles in the Facilities group, focusing on eliminating waste and increasing quality
- Monitoring and testing processes related to production
- Develop scope documents and write purchase requests for all contracts required for above stated work.
- Develop PPE, chemical, and spare parts Min/Max Quantities for all facility chemical processes
- Work with other Ultium Facility teams to relay appropriate information across all three sites
Qualifications and Competencies: - Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering
- 3 years minimum experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferred
- Working knowledge of Absorption processes and Vacuum Distillation processes, preferred
- Experience working with large scale chemical storage
- Project management experience
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to develop reports and present findings
- Leadership capabilities
- Willingness to learn new processes/systems
- Problem solving skills
- Experience working with outside contractors and original equipment manufacturers
- Experience in a union environment
- Some weekend work and overtime may be required
