Full Job Description

Amentum is seeking a driven and professional CBRNE Operations Senior Analyst with a strong biochemistry focus to work on the PACOM Command Surgeon’s (J07) Decision Support Team (DST). This position serves as the DST's senior biochemical and technical defense expert, assessing chemical and biological threats (90% Bio / 10% Chem), adversary pathogen engineering, and medical countermeasure (MCM) efficacy. General CBRNE training experience without deep technical biochemistry, molecular biology, or laboratory-threat analysis expertise is insufficient. Assigned to the JIOC at Makalapa, the position directly supports J07, receives functional priorities from J07 through established contract channels, operates with project and technical oversight from J85, and reports administratively to the Amentum Project Lead.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Analyze CBRNE threats, hazards, vulnerabilities, and operational risks affecting US PACOM forces, missions, installations, and regional partners.
  • Evaluate sensing and warning technologies, including multi-domain tipping and cueing, sensor integration, data fusion, environmental and wastewater sampling, rapid diagnostics, countermeasures, and counter-countermeasures.
  • Assess operational utility, limitations, interoperability, and employment considerations for existing, planned, and prototype detection and response capabilities.
  • Provide CBRNE findings to the Operations Planner for integration with medical intelligence, epidemiology, public health, and operational plans.
  • Support incorporation of CBRNE defense, biological-threat warning, consequence management, and Force Health Protection into plans, policies, exercises, and response procedures.
  • Coordinate with J07, J85, US PACOM directorates, subordinate commands, CBRNE organizations, laboratories, technical developers, and interagency or partner-nation stakeholders.
  • Participate in planning teams, working groups, exercises, assessments, and bilateral or multilateral engagements.
  • Test the Biosurveillance Information Platform and provide CBRNE-specific findings for Military Utility Assessments and recommendations.
  • Translate operational requirements into specifications for technical teams developing feeds, dashboards, alerts, and workflows; coding is not required.
  • Prepare CBRNE assessments, briefings, white papers, event documentation, and capability recommendations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Toxicology, or a closely related life-sciences discipline. 10+ years of specialized military chemical/biological defense experience with significant laboratory or technical CWMD background in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of professional experience in chemical and biological defense, technical threat analysis, or defense-oriented life-science research.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to complete a polygraph examination if required. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Top-Secret Clearance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in biological threat agents (Select Agents & Toxins), weaponization principles, and bio-containment standards (BSL-3/BSL-4).
  • Familiarity with medical countermeasures (MCM) doctrine and theater force health protection protocols.
  • Understanding of pathogen genetics, cellular mechanisms, assays, and dual-use biotechnology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree:  Master’s Degree (MS) or Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Virology, or Toxicology.
  • Intelligence Community (IC) Exposure: Prior experience working with or within NCMI, DIA, JIOCs, or DTRA, including familiarity with ICD 203/206 analytic standards.
  • Modeling & Analytics Tools: Familiarity with DoD hazard prediction and blast/dispersion modeling software (e.g., HPAC, Hazard Assessment System, JEM/JWARN).
  • Military Joint Staff Background: Prior service as a military CBRN Officer (e.g., Army 74A, Navy 7490, Air Force 14N/71S) or Senior Enlisted Specialist with Joint Task Force / CCMD staff experience.
