Full Job Description
Position Title: Sr. Sous Chef - Corporate Dining (NYC)

Salary: $85,000-$100,000/ Year

Job Summary:

The Senior Sous Chef works under the Executive Chef to support and oversee daily culinary operations for one of two cafes and support catering operations at BlackRock in NYC. This is a highly hands-on leadership role focused on food preparation, service execution, staff development, and maintain exceptional culinary and operational standards in a corporate dining environment.

In this hands-on culinary role, you will assist in the creation and execution of innovative, seasonally inspired menus, oversee the preparation and presentation of refined cuisine, and maintain exceptional standards of food quality, safety, and consistency. You will also help lead, mentor, and develop the culinary team while supporting purchasing, inventory management, and operationa excellence to deliver a seamless, white-glove dining experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assists the Executive Chef with managing cost controls and controlling expenditures for the account
  • Assists the Executive Chef with planning and creating menus
  • Produces and executes catering events
  • Rolls out new culinary programs in conjunction with Company marketing and culinary team

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A.O.S. Degree in Culinary Arts or culinary certificate and required experience
  • At least 3 years of culinary/kitchen management experience in a high-volume setting
  • Catering experience required
  • High-volume, complex foodservice operations experience - highly desirable
  • Institutional and batch cooking experiences helpful
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • Must be experienced with computers, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Outlook, email, and the Internet
  • Must be willing to participate in patient satisfaction programs/activities
  • ServSafe certified - highly desirable
