Overview

If you’re an RN ready to take the next step in your career, this is an opportunity to strengthen your leadership skills while remaining actively involved in patient care. As a Charge RN, you’ll help support the nursing team, coordinate care, and provide hands-on clinical services to a diverse patient population in a unique healthcare environment.

 

💰 Base Pay: $40.00/hour + Night Shift Differential🌙 Two Full-Time Night Shift Positions Available

 

As a Charge RN, you’ll work alongside nurses, medical providers, and correctional professionals to help ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care throughout your shift. You’ll serve as a clinical resource for the nursing team while continuing to use your own assessment, critical-thinking, and emergency-response skills.

Responsibilities

As a Charge Registered Nurse, you will provide clinical leadership and direct patient care while helping support the day-to-day delivery of healthcare services. Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Providing clinical guidance and support to nursing staff during the assigned shift
  • Coordinating patient care and helping ensure appropriate coverage and workflow
  • Performing health screenings and comprehensive nursing assessments
  • Administering medications and treatments and monitoring patient response
  • Triaging patient needs and responding to urgent and emergent medical situations
  • Managing acute and chronic conditions and coordinating care with medical providers
  • Monitoring and documenting changes in patient condition, vital signs, and medical history
  • Supporting continuity of care and communicating pertinent patient information to the healthcare team
  • Ensuring accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Following facility security protocols while collaborating with correctional and healthcare staff to maintain a safe environment
  • Serving as a clinical resource to the nursing team and helping promote quality patient care throughout the shift
Qualifications

Education / Licenses / Certifications / Requirements

  • Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the AL
  • Possess an active CPR certification
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

 

Experience / Skills

  • Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently and in a team
  • Flexible schedule and availability to work overtime when needed
  • Integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements

 

Physical Capabilities:

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
