Job Description:

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Registered Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse at Georgia Regional Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility - Atlanta, located in Decatur, GA. The Skilled Nursing Facility serves individuals who are profound to severely developmentally disabled and in need of a skilled nursing level of care.

Salary: 98,500.00 based on experience

Charge Nurse

Job Profile: HCP073 - Registered Nurse Supervisor

Job Responsibilities
  • Supervises, guides, and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for an assigned unit or shift.
  • Ensures nursing staff properly assess patient health problems and needs.
  • Develops and implements nursing care plans and ensures accurate maintenance of medical records.
  • Supervises the provision and quality of nursing care provided to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients.
  • Provides guidance to nursing staff regarding patient care, policies, procedures, and appropriate clinical practices.
  • Advises patients regarding health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment planning as appropriate.
  • May provide case management services.
  • Assists with coordinating staffing, assignments, and daily nursing operations for the assigned shift or unit.
  • Ensures nursing services are provided in accordance with established standards, policies, and applicable regulations.

Qualifications
  • Current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse.
  • Experience working with patients with G/J tubes, tracheostomies, and seizure disorders.
  • Experience in long-term care or geriatric nursing.
  • Experience working with individuals with mental health and/or developmental disabilities preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university and a current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse, plus four (4) years of professional nursing experience, including two (2) years in a lead worker, team leader, managerial, or supervisory role;

OR

One (1) year of experience at the lower level Registered Nurse 3 (HCP072) or an equivalent position.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university.
  • Previous Charge Nurse, Lead Nurse, or nursing supervisory experience.
  • Experience working in a behavioral health, psychiatric, hospital, or long-term care setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and direction to nursing staff.
  • Strong communication, organizational, documentation, and patient-care skills.
