Full Job Description
Position: CFO
Industry: Construction (Must-Have)
Schedule: M-F, Full-time, Onsite
Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Compensation: 200K - 220K

You9ll help general contractors, subcontractors, and specialty trade businesses get clear visibility into job performance, cash flow, and profitability. You9ll work closely with owners and leadership teams to build financial strategy, strengthen reporting, and set their businesses up for steady, sustainable growth.

We value candidates who have held senior finance roles in the construction industry and hold relevant certifications. The ideal candidate excels at strategic financial leadership and has hands-on experience with job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition under ASC 606. You understand the parts of construction finance that other industries don9t have, such as retainage, change orders, bonding capacity, and project-level cash management. You9re comfortable explaining those topics to business owners in plain terms. Ultimately, you9ll help our clients stay compliant, protect their margins, and make confident decisions about the projects they bid and win.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement financial strategies tailored to construction businesses.
  • Prepare and review WIP schedules, job cost reports, and over/under billing analysis.
  • Provide financial analysis, forecasting, and cash flow planning across active projects.
  • Build relationships with surety, bonding, and banking partners, and prepare the financial packages they require.
  • Oversee revenue recognition under ASC 606 and percentage-of-completion accounting.
  • Implement financial controls and improve job costing processes.
  • Manage financial risks, including project margin fade, retainage, and working capital.
  • Advise ownership on bidding strategy, project profitability, and growth planning.
  • Guide clients through audits, reviews, and year-end reporting.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor9s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • CFO or senior finance leadership experience in the construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, ASC 606, and construction revenue recognition
  • Experience preparing WIP schedules and working with surety and bonding companies
  • Familiarity with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, Sage Intacct Construction, Viewpoint Vista, Foundation, or Procore)
  • Experience with certified payroll, prevailing wage, or union payroll (preferred)
  • CPA (preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple client engagements

Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation
  • 401(k)
  • 401(k) matching
  • Dental insurance
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Vision insurance
