Job Title: Certified Welding Inspector

Location: Cambridge, ON | On-site

Compensation: $35.00 - 46.00/hour

Job Type: Full-time

The Position:

Reporting to the Quality Manager, Nuclear, the Certified Welding Inspector will be an integral member of the quality assurance team, ensuring that welding processes are executed correctly, results are thoroughly documented, and all relevant standards and internal procedures are consistently followed. This hands-on role within the nuclear technology center involves close collaboration with welders, fabricators, engineers, project managers, and other team members to provide technical expertise, address complex welding challenges, and contribute to the ongoing success of Eclipse's internal welding processes.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Ensure all welding activities meet project specific specifications and are in conformance with industry standards (CSA, AWS, ASME, or ISO).
  • Conduct weld inspections and weld monitoring.
  • Perform fit-up and final inspections of welded components/assemblies.
  • Create NDE requests and review completed reports for accuracy.
  • Perform receiving inspection of weld consumables, when required.
  • Collaborate with engineers to develop, review, update and/or implement welding procedures to improve quality and efficiency by identifying areas for improvement and working with the team for implementation.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues and provide technical insights to assist in resolving non-conformances.
  • Create weld maps, weld logs.
  • Maintain accurate records of welding activities.
  • Create MITPs, as per project requirements.
  • Perform reviews of the complete work package (history file) for submission to the customer for acceptance.
  • Provide guidance, and mentorship to junior welders and weld inspectors to help elevate skill levels and promote a culture of continuous learning.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
  • Demonstrate strong professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborate effectively in a team environment and actively participate in group meetings.
  • Complete additional duties and projects as assigned.

What We're Looking For:
  • High school diploma, or equivalent
  • Post-secondary education in the welding, weld engineering or materials is preferred
  • Hold an active CSA W178.2 certificate
  • Strong organizational skills, including keeping detailed weld inspection records, ensuring traceability
  • Proficient with computer applications such as MS Office
  • A self-starter with ability to establish priorities and work without supervision in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of quality processes and Nuclear requirements is desirable
