Medical Physicist (Certified or Board Eligible) to join our team.
Facilities and Equipment:The
Texas Oncology- Abilene practice provides a full range of external beam radiation therapy procedures. Equipment in use at the Abilene locations includes 1 Varian True Beam, GE CT, MOSAIQ ROIS, Eclipse, and RadCalc used to treat 25-30 patients per day. Abilene is part of Texas Oncology's West Texas region which houses a team of 5 board certified radiation oncologists, 5 board certified medical physicists, 8 dosimetrists, 15 radiation therapist, 5 chief radiation therapists, and 6 CT technicians. All sites share a single database for ROIS, treatment planning, 2nd check program, and SNC SunCHECK. QA tools include, but are not limited to Profiler2, MapCheck3, SNC Routine, and 3D scanning system.

Abilene is located near the geographic center of Texas and is strategically located for weekend trips throughout the "Big Country". Abilene boasts a lively city that offers good food, parks, museums, manicured golf courses, a zoo, nearby lakes and state parks, and the small-town friendly atmosphere which defines the Big Country. Additionally, travel to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, home of the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers, is just a few hours away and can easily be enjoyed during a day or weekend trip.
Responsibilities Preferred Experience: A Working knowledge:
- Varian linear accelerators
- Eclipse TPS
- ARIA and MOSAIQ Radiation Oncology Information System
- HDR, SBRT and SRS procedures
- Radiation safety
Qualifications The successful candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:- Master's degree in Medical physics from an accredited college or university.
- Completed a CAMPEP approved residency,
- Board eligible and be in the process of obtaining certification by the American Board of Radiology
- Eligibility for a Texas license
- Minimum of 2 years of experience (including residency)
- Willing to consider an entry- or mid-level candidate with strong clinical background.
- A working knowledge of SRS, SBRT, and HDR
- Experience with Varian linear accelerators
- Strong organization and oral / written communication skills
- The ability to travel on an occasional, as needed, basis
