Job Description:

This Certified Cloud Engineer will be responsible for the development, implementation, configuration, support, and maintenance of the organization's hybrid cloud platform (AWS, Azure, Google, etc.) tenants and instances. This includes the various Cloud Platform technologies (IaaS, PaaS, or SaaS), Cloud-hosted Cloud applications, strategy, and policies.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the vendor throughout development, integration, testing, deployment, and production implementation.
• Provide technical oversight of the cloud infrastructure and ensure cloud services are designed and implemented in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
• Develop the technical knowledge required to assume long term ownership and support of the solution following project closeout.
• Participate directly in vendor design discussions and development activities, providing guidance and review of Cloud architecture, infrastructure, networking, compute, storage, databases, security services, monitoring, logging, and automation used by the solution.
• Review and validate the vendor's proposed architecture and configurations, identify potential risks or gaps, and make sure that cloud services are implemented using appropriate cloud best practices.
• Work closely with the .NET development team to support application deployment, integration, configuration, CI/CD processes, infrastructure as code, and environment management, while ensuring that the solution can be effectively supported by internal staff after transition.
• Ensure security, compliance, privacy, reliability, and operational support.
• Incorporate organizational security requirements into the cloud architecture and implementation, including identity and access management, least privilege, encryption, network security, vulnerability management, logging, monitoring, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and appropriate security controls for cloud workloads.
• Independently perform complicated programming, complex configuration, scripting, automation, troubleshooting, and issue resolution activities and help establish operational procedures, monitoring standards, incident response processes, and maintenance practices.
• Document the cloud environment, architecture, configurations, dependencies, operational procedures, and support requirements to ensure that knowledge is retained within the organization.
• Assume primary responsibility for the operational support, maintenance, optimization, and continuous improvement of the cloud environment following it's implementation.
• Establish and promote cloud best practices, develop repeatable automation and deployment practices, evaluate new cloud services and marketplace solutions, and identify opportunities to improve security, performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Assist with developing the skills of existing staff through knowledge transfer, documentation, mentoring, and hands-on collaboration, reducing long-term dependency on the vendor.

Important Details -

Interview process: Via Zoom or Teams.MUST provide three (3) business references if an interview is requested. One reference must be a supervisory level.

Onsite, hybrid or remote: WI residency is required. The candidate must be a WI resident or willing to relocate within 30 days of start date. This role may require staff to come onsite as necessary with sufficient notice. The candidate should be prepared to come onsite if required.

Duration: Until 6/30/27 with the potential for an extension.

On-call/Weekend Coverage: Yes, there may be some weekend maintenance required as well as some on-call hours.

Requirements

Top Required Skills/Experience: (4-5 years of experience requested)

• Experience in designing, implementing, and supporting hybrid (private & public) cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google, etc.) with strong understanding of networking, compute, storage, security, scalability, and high availability.
• DevOps integration; working closely with application development teams, particularly .NET environments, supporting CI/CD pipelines, application deployment, API integration, containers, configuration management, and DevSecOps practices.
• Strong experience in programming, scripting, configuration, troubleshooting complex infrastructure and application issues, optimizing performance and cost.
• Experience working collaboratively with vendors, architects, developers, security teams, and internal IT staff to transition solutions into long-term operational support.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with vendors, developers, architects, security teams, and internal IT staff.

Preferred skills:

Cloud certification is preferred, along with demonstrated experience designing, implementing, securing, automating, and supporting enterprise hybrid cloud environments. Selected candidate must provide copies of any/all certifications as part of the hiring process.

Benefits

Hourly rate for 1099: $104.00

Hourly rate for W2: $75.00
