Overview

The Pre-Anesthesia Assistant Nurse Manager supports the Nurse Manager in the planning, organization, and implementation of unit-based services to ensure high-quality patient care and operational excellence within the pre-anesthesia setting. This role assists with fiscal management, performance improvement initiatives, and maintaining compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

 

The Pre-Anesthesia Assistant Nurse Manager actively participates in personnel processes, including staff engagement, effective communication, and shared decision-making, while supporting timely problem-solving and change management efforts. Strong collaboration with interdisciplinary departments is essential to this role. Serving as key bench strength for the Nurse Manager, the Pre-Anesthesia Assistant Nurse Manager helps ensure continuity of leadership and fosters a positive, accountable, and patient-centered care environment.

Responsibilities Clinical and Operational Support
  • Assists the Nurse Manager with unit assessments, staff skill proficiency and competency evaluations.
  • Supports equipment and supply management to ensure readiness, safety, and appropriate utilization.
  • Assists in overseeing daily unit operations to support safe, efficient patient care.
  • Participates in patient satisfaction initiatives and service excellence efforts.
Staffing and Scheduling
  • Assists with staffing coordination and scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage and workload balance.
  • Supports operational decision-making related to staffing needs and workflow adjustments.
Personnel Management
  • Assists with personnel processes, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and corrective or disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Provides support, coaching, and guidance to staff to promote professional development and accountability.
Quality, Performance Improvement, and Compliance
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and monitoring of performance improvement plans.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and accreditation requirements.

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma/RN Graduate Program + Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Active pursuit of a Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) if not already possessing a BSN.
