DescriptionThe Center Medical Director (CMD) is responsible for the day-to-day clinical management of one or more BMS primary care practice location(s) and holds the Senior medical administrative position for assigned location (s). Responsibilities include the oversight of the delivery of medical care and clinical services, cost management, profitability, utilization review, quality assurance, and medical protocol development and review. Oversees the activities of physicians and other providers at assigned locations and assists in recruitment of new staff. Serves on committees as assigned. The CMD will lead the center, setting the direction to improve performance with quality, productivity, and patient experience. The CMD will receive guidance based on BMS' strategic plan, quality plan, and other organizational performance improvement initiatives. The CMD will develop a functional management team (Office Manager/Practice Administrator and Clinical Manager) to review financial, clinical, operational, and patient experience data. The CMD will be accountable for exceeding goals and optimizing operations with the support of the Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Development and Clinical Services teams. The CMD will work in conjunction with BMS' Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to provide leadership and supervision over assigned BMS clinical services. Communication skills are required outside of the work group to facilitate work groups, resolve conflict, persuade, or negotiate. External communications involve provision of a service, representing the organization at public meetings, and the ability to deal with sensitive situations/information.
RequirementsEducation: - Medical Degree (MD/DO/MBBS)
- In addition to a medical degree, prefer candidates with a Master's in Business, Management Science, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: - Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Maryland and Board Certified for those providers assigned patient care as part of their Medical Director role
Experience: - Five years of experience in managing a physician group/medical practice.
Supervisory Responsibilities:- This position provides guidance and supervision of providers, site administrative manager, and clinical manager. Other positions may be assigned depending on site
