Responsibilities
As a
CEI Project Engineer, you will play a key role in leading and delivering successful transportation construction projects supporting our Lexington, SC office. Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead projects and teams by planning, organizing, and managing the work of staff members, while providing mentorship, guidance, and workload planning to support their growth and success.
- Oversee construction administration from start to finish, including funding coordination, inspections, and serving as an on-site representative to resolve field issues and ensure projects run smoothly.
- Ensure quality and compliance by developing and reviewing policies, procedures, and practices, while verifying all work meets QA/QC, contract requirements, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with clients and stakeholders such as county and municipal governments and the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) to deliver impactful, community-focused projects.
- Stay hands-on and informed by monitoring field activities like data collection, quantity calculations, and materials testing (soil density, concrete, asphalt, and earthwork), while keeping up to date on the latest technical and management trends.
- Drive business growth by identifying opportunities and building relationships that strengthen Mead & Hunt's presence in the region.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in civil engineering from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of four (4) years of construction engineering and inspection experience (CEI)
- PE licensure (Professional Engineer) is required
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed and maintain a valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- Design-build project leadership experience, particularly with transportation infrastructure and bridge-focused projects
- Familiarity with materials testing processes, including the ability to oversee subcontractors and lead project materials discussions
- Strong budget and cost management skills within large-scale transportation programs
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- SCDOT inspector certifications
