About the Role

The Maintenance, Repair, and Operations Category Manager - (MRO) will manage national and/or regional MRO categories and sub-categories. Identify and engage with internal stakeholders to capture category/commodity requirements, enhance data, and ensure supplier qualification and compliance. Responsible for developing & executing detailed category strategy. Conduct or support contract negotiations and supplier selection. Responsible for delivering category productivity through price, rebates, value analysis (VA) or continuous improvement projects. Support Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) strategy and quarterly supplier reviews for all strategic suppliers within categories. Adept at providing subject matter expertise through direct experience and/or vendor collaboration.

What You'll Do

  • STRATEGY: Implement and execute the Category Management and SRM strategies to successfully manage all assigned THIS spend groups.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Supports site buying activities through the development and implementation of sourcing agreements and commodity insight that provides measurable targets aligned to business and site requirements. In establishing agreements, the Category Manager is responsible for managing the bid and award processes including identification of and negotiation with suppliers; establish economic order quantities; evaluate market trends and economics; and effectively communicate agreements with internal and external customers.
    • Responsible for establishing and maintaining a capable, value driven supply base for required categories. Must control costs of sourced materials through use of negotiations and agreements, market tests, bulk purchasing and/or forecasting, program compliance management, data analysis, etc.
    • A technical background with familiarity of Maintenance, Repair and Operating Materials is recommended. A working knowledge of M.R.P., JIT, and related systems is desirable.
    • The individual must have good interpersonal communication skills as this position will interact with all levels of management both inside and outside the company, especially working closely with client facing Sourcing Managers, Site Managers and Buyers.
    • Provide the company with industry knowledge in the category/commodity groupings assigned to his/her responsibility. Travel may be required to various supplier locations.
    • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring
  • Minimum five (5) years in related field/operations/supply chain/sourcing MRO related materials
  • Knowledge of quality assurance philosophies, practices, and techniques
  • 4-year college degree desired (B.S. Technical degree preferred)
  • CPM (preferred)
  • Strong negotiation and planning skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimum day to day supervision.
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Ability to understand vendor contracts.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in cross functional team environment.
  • Good computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Products including Excel and Access
  • Ability to travel.
