Full Job Description
Who You Are:

The Cartographer will support the delineation, generalization, review, and preparation of port, waterway, coastal, and maritime features for operational and public display. The ideal candidate will bring practical cartographic judgment, an understanding of maritime feature representation, and the ability to produce clear, consistent, publication-ready geospatial data aligned with Government-approved methodology and source lineage requirements.

What You'll Do:
  • Delineate and generalize port, waterway, coastal, offshore, and multipart features using approved parent geometry, authoritative sources, and the Waterways Harmonization model.
  • Support the creation of supplemental geometry where approved, determine logical geographic beginning and end points for features, preserve standardized naming relationships and source lineage, and ensure that resulting features are suitable for operational use, public display, ingestion, maintenance, and archival.

What You'll Bring:
  • At least three years of professional cartographic or hydrographic experience, including delineation and generalization of port, waterway, coastal, or maritime features and preparation of data suitable for operational and public display.
  • Experience with nautical, hydrographic, transportation, coastal, emergency response, or public-facing geospatial datasets is preferred.
  • Strong cartographic judgment, careful attention to feature representation, and the ability to balance geographic accuracy, operational usefulness, and visual clarity.
  • Ability to work within established schema and quality standards while identifying areas where Government decisions are needed to resolve ambiguity, source conflict, or feature interpretation issues.
  • Must be proficient in English, both written and verbal, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Successful results of preemployment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screen.
  • Comply with company drug and alcohol policy.
  • Be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate's start date.

Compensation

Expected Salary: $33.65/hr - $44.23/hr
