FHI is seeking a Carrier Development Manager to join our Logistics division. This role is responsible for recruiting, vetting, and managing relationships with third-party carriers to help build a reliable, compliant, and cost-effective freight network. The Carrier Development Manager plays a key role in ensuring profitable, on-time load coverage while supporting strong service for our customers and stakeholders.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position in a remote office environment, with required in-office visits bi-monthly and for quarterly events.

What You'll Do

As a Carrier Development Manager, you will support daily freight coverage needs while developing a strong carrier network that can serve the business across changing market conditions. Key responsibilities include:
  • Identify, recruit, and build partnerships with high-potential carriers to expand freight capacity.
  • Work closely with Customer Service to understand lane coverage needs and cover available loads.
  • Guide carriers through onboarding, safety vetting, insurance verification, and authority documentation.
  • Negotiate rates, contracts, and service agreements with carriers and clients to support profitability and compliance.
  • Monitor market trends in logistics, supply chain management, freight pricing, and carrier capacity.
  • Build and maintain long-term carrier relationships that support consistent service and carrier loyalty.
  • Track carrier performance and address opportunities for improvement.
  • Support a reliable, compliant, and cost-effective freight network.

Qualifications
Experience
  • Experience in truckload transportation logistics required.
  • 3+ years of experience in freight brokerage, dispatch, or truckload operations preferred.
  • Strong understanding of DOT/FMCSA regulations.
