What you will be doing: Directly supervises the managers of security, residential living, and recreation. Responsible for the management of community life which includes security, residential living, recreation, student leadership and transportation in compliance with government and management directives.

Essential Functions:
  • Plan, coordinate and direct the administration and programmatic activities of the directorate
  • Provide staff training, evaluate staff performance, and implement department and personnel changes as approved by the center director and coordinated with the manager, human resources prior to implementation
  • Develop departmental budget: monitor and control expenditures; review and recommend changes to budget authorizations
  • Develop and implement new and revised policies and procedures affecting the campus safety and security, residential living, recreation, student leadership and transportation directorate; coordinate with other departments to ensure compliance with overall center objectives
  • Log responsible activities into the MTC Student App and ensure timely responses to students' request to register
  • Review and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of services to students. Prepare related reports
  • Direct program changes and supervise the development and implementation of programs for the department
  • Coordinate with other staff, government, state and local agencies in the provisions of services to students
  • Oversee departmental shift schedules; plan and direct work assignments and schedule of activities

  • Participate in community relations council activities
  • Oversee the recreation, residential, student leadership, safety & security, and transportation departments and supervise the development and implementation of recreation programs
  • Observe and inspect dormitory areas on a regularly scheduled basis to ensure set standards are maintained and necessary corrections are noted and followed-up on
  • Oversee the development of the Occupational Safety and Health Plan, coordination of fire protection, inspections of the facility and frequent fire drills
  • Conduct quarterly audits of residential files
  • Ensure compliance with significant incident reports (SIR) and timely submission
  • Maintain memorandums of understanding (MOU) and ensure they are up-to-date
  • Ensure the career development services system is supported and integrated into the campus safety and security directorate
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area that models high standards for a work environment
  • Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers
  • Participate in student employability programs and activities.
  • Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps' Zero Tolerance Policy
  • Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions
  • Maintain accountability of staff, students and property; adhere to safety practices.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree and four years related experience, three of which must be in a managerial capacity
  • Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency is required
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by management.
