Role: Open to Physician Assistants and Acute Care Nurse Practitioners
Location: 79 Jefferson Street, Hartford, 06102
Setting: Inpatient, cardiac surgery
Schedule: Full-time 3x13s, nights. Premium differentials offered.
Call schedule: No call

About the Opportunity:
• As a vital member of the Cardiac Surgery team, the APP will deliver expert, compassionate care to patients in our 18-bed Cardiac Surgery intensive care unit (ICU), step-down unit, and floor settings. Responsibilities include:
• Managed preoperative and postoperative care for cardiac surgery patients.
• Perform bedside procedures including central venous and arterial line placement, intra-aortic balloon pump removal, etc.
• Provide care for patients undergoing advanced procedures, including heart transplants, ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation), mechanical circulatory support, and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, developing individualized care plans, and closely monitoring progress.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of teamwork and concise communication to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Support seamless transitions of care between the ICU, step-down, and floor settings.
• Provide patient and family education, ensuring a clear understanding of the surgical process and recovery journey.
• Schedule: Full-time employment includes day/night/weekend/holiday rotation. Permanent night positions are available. Premium night/weekend differentials offered.
• Call schedule: No call
