Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm | Inpatient & Outpatient
Position OverviewThe Cardiologist will provide comprehensive cardiovascular care across inpatient, outpatient, Emergency Department, and ICU settings. This role includes diagnostic evaluation, management of acute and chronic cardiac conditions, test interpretation, and coordination of care during hospitalization and discharge. The provider will collaborate closely with hospitalists, emergency physicians, and other multidisciplinary team members to ensure high-quality, evidence-based cardiac care. This opportunity does not require call coverage, weekend work, or holiday responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities- Assist with emergency cardiac care for life-threatening conditions such as cardiac arrest.
- Provide consultations for Emergency Department, inpatient, and ICU patients.
- Provide daily progress notes and support discharge planning.
- Document and coordinate patient transfers to higher levels of care.
- Conduct and interpret EKGs, phonocardiograms, echocardiograms, Holter monitors, and exercise stress testing.
- Diagnose cardiovascular conditions using clinical history, imaging, test results, and exam findings.
- Explain procedures and discuss diagnostic results or treatments with patients.
- Monitor and reevaluate patient progress throughout episodes of care.
- Order cardiac testing including stress tests, echocardiograms, EKGs, Holter monitoring, and cardiac catheterization consultations when indicated.
- Prescribe cardiovascular medications and recommend surgical interventions when appropriate.
- Provide consultations within the ICU and ED for critically ill cardiac patients.
- Supervise and educate medical students, residents, and advanced practice providers.
- Participate in cardiology peer review activities.
Work Environment & Schedule- Setting: Inpatient and outpatient care at the Beckley VA Medical Center
- Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

- Telemedicine: Not allowed
- Support: Collaborative nursing and administrative staff

Minimum Qualifications- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited residency with board eligibility or certification in Cardiology
- Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
- Federal DEA license
- BLS certification
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
Desired Qualifications- Board-certified Cardiologist
- Experience with advanced cardiac imaging or willingness to train
- Experience supervising trainees or advanced practice providers
- Strong collaboration skills
