Responsibilities

  • Perform transthoracic echocardiograms and stress echo according to department guidelines.
  • Capture digital cardiac images and perform accurate measurements, recognizing pathology when necessary.
  • Conduct intra-procedural echocardiograms and for inpatients in research trials as required.
  • Respond to stat calls and promptly report critical findings to attending Physicians.
  • Prepare for echocardiogram procedures by organizing equipment and documentation.
  • Orient new employees as needed within the department.
  • Conduct daily quality control checks on echocardiography equipment.

Full Job Description
Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Cardiac Sonographer - Bellevue.

In this role, the successful candidate performs all types of Echocardiography testing. Assists the physicians in the delivery of safe, age appropriate patient care during testing in the Echocardiography Lab. Works collaboratively with the RNs and MDs in a Health team forum to promote wellness and optimize patient outcomes and quality care. Participates in unit/department/institution performance improvement activities that impact patient and service outcomes based on professional practice standards.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Performs transthoracic echocardiograms, stress echo (both exercise and pharmacological) per department and management guidelines.
  • Captures digital cardiac images and performs measurements correctly, recognizing pathology andor customizes exam requiring contrast agent accordingly due to lack of image quality.
  • Performs intra-procedural transthoracic echocardiograms as ordered. Performs transthoracic echocardiograms as ordered for inpatients enrolled in Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved clinical trialsresearch protocols. Transthoracic echocardiograms may be performed in the Echo Lab or done as a portable study at the bedside.
  • Responds to stat calls accordingly. Reports life threatening pathology to attending Physician or Fellow
  • Responsible for the preparation of echocardiogram procedure including but not limited to equipment, supplies, instruments and appropriate paperwork.
  • Participates in orientation of new employees as needed.
  • Responsible for daily quality control of equipment and escalates issues as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Technical Diploma.
  • Graduate of an accredited cardiac ultrasound program.
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) by CCI or ARDMS required at hire.
  • Current and valid BLS required
  • Excellent communication (both written and oral), detail orientation, customer service, multitasking skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Experience performing echocardiography with various manufacturer echo machines used in the Echo Lab..

Preferred Qualifications:
1- 2 years Experience performing echocardiograms preferred.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $106,301.68 - $107,341.68 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
