JOB DESCRIPTION

Join a newly established first-line credit function where your analytical expertise and strategic thinking will directly influence how we grow our small business card portfolio responsibly. This is a high-visibility role where your decisions matter — and your career can accelerate alongside the impact you create.

As a Card Acquisitions Risk Strategy Senior Associate in the Card Credit Decisioning team, you will define and manage credit risk strategies for small business card acquisitions, balancing growth with sound lending principles. You will partner across risk, product, finance, and modeling teams to shape underwriting policies and drive data-informed decisions that align with our financial goals. Your work will directly influence approve/decline decisions and credit line assignments across our business card portfolios.

 

Job responsibilities

  • Evaluate and refine the credit decisioning framework in partnership with product, finance, and second-line credit risk teams to ensure alignment with risk appetite
  • Assess new credit expansion opportunities and execute against approved strategies with rigor and accountability
  • Design and maintain review processes to monitor credit assumptions and ensure sound execution
  • Partner with risk strategy teams to define variables for new credit models and collaborate with the modeling team on the modeling suite and roadmap
  • Develop and implement performance metrics to track portfolio health and strategy effectiveness
  • Maintain a strong regulatory and controls environment, ensuring compliance across all credit activities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across risk, underwriting, legal, and finance to balance business growth with prudent risk management

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 4 years of experience in direct-to-consumer lending, originations, or retail credit at a large-scale financial services organization
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and manage credit risk, with strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Proven strategic thinking and execution capabilities, with a track record of identifying and implementing process or business improvements
  • Experience working with complex datasets and translating data insights into actionable credit strategies
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across cross-functional teams

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience in small business or commercial card credit risk strategy
  • Familiarity with credit model development, variable selection, or model governance processes
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and controls frameworks relevant to consumer or small business lending
  • Experience presenting risk strategies or recommendations to senior leadership
