JOB DESCRIPTIONCapital Projects & Contracts (Construction Industry) Senior ManagerWhere We Need You Protiviti is looking for an Associate Director to join our Capital Projects & Contracts group and support our growing Construction consulting offerings.
What You Can Expect As an Associate Director, you'll take a lead role in strengthening client relationships and providing strategic guidance across complex capital programs and construction projects. You'll partner with clients to identify construction and capital project delivery risks, technical challenges, and opportunities to enhance the efficiency, governance, and performance of capital investments. You'll develop innovative strategies to solve complex business problems and devise solutions that address client needs using leading practices, data-driven insights, and emerging tools and methodologies. You'll also help develop new business opportunities, expand existing client relationships, and contribute to the growth of our Capital Projects & Contracts practice. You'll build lasting relationships with clients and within the business community while serving as an ambassador of Protiviti in the market. You will also mentor and develop high-performing teams, provide leadership across engagements, and oversee the successful delivery of project work plans while driving quality, innovation, and exceptional client service.
What Will Help You Be Successful - You bring deep expertise across the construction project lifecycle, including planning, design, procurement, execution, and closeout, and leverage that knowledge to advise clients on complex capital programs and strategic investments.
- You can confidently evaluate and enhance project governance, project controls, cost and schedule management, contract administration, and contractor oversight frameworks to improve program performance and outcomes.
- You are experienced in identifying and mitigating construction risks, including cost overruns, delays, change orders, claims, and other challenges that impact project success.
- You are passionate about serving as a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders, helping organizations navigate complex capital project and program delivery challenges.
- You excel at building and expanding executive-level client relationships, identifying new opportunities, and delivering long-term value to clients.
- You enjoy leading teams, developing future leaders, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture across multiple engagements.
- You contribute to practice growth through business development, go-to-market initiatives, thought leadership, and the expansion of client relationships.
- You stay current on industry trends, project delivery models, emerging technologies, and market developments, leveraging those insights to drive innovation and enhance client service offerings.
Do Your Talents Include the Following? - Demonstrated experience with:
- Project planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cost management across the lifecycle.
- Contract strategy, procurement, and delivery models (e.g., EPC, design-build, CM at-risk).
- Contract administration, including change order management, claims mitigation, and dispute resolution.
- Project controls, including cost, schedule, and performance monitoring against KPIs
- Construction documentation review (budgets, schedules, contracts, RFIs, submittals, and reports).
- Contractor and subcontractor performance evaluation and oversight.
- Auditing construction projects and capital programs, including governance and controls frameworks.
- Identifying risks related to cost overruns, schedule delays, scope changes, and disputes
- Supporting or leading claims analysis, dispute advisory, or forensic project reviews
- Evaluating, summarizing, organizing, and interpreting data.
- Establishing and cultivating business relationships and a professional network, including with senior executives.
- Successfully pursuing business development opportunities and identifying and implementing strategies to obtain new work or clientele.
- Ability to translate and communicate issues, risk, or challenges to client personnel, including executives.
- Leadership and direct supervisory experience of teams including conducting performance appraisals, mentoring and coaching, oversight and review of work, coordination across teams, and understanding how to motivate.
Your Educational and Professional Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline (e.g., Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field).
- 10+ years of experience in Consulting, Construction, Engineering, Project Controls, or Capital Project Management.
- Proven success building executive-level client relationships, developing new business opportunities, and contributing to practice growth.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams, mentoring future leaders, and managing multiple concurrent engagements.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing large-scale capital projects and construction programs, including governance, project controls, risk management, contract administration, and program delivery.
- Experience with construction and project management tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Procore, e-Builder, Kahua, CMIC, or similar platforms).
- Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM, PE, or similar preferred.
Our Hybrid Workplace Protiviti practices a hybrid model, which is a combination of working in person with a purpose and working remotely. This model creates meaningful experiences for our people and our clients while offering a flexible environment. The ratio of remote to in-person requirements vary by client, project, team, and other business factors. Our people work both in-person in local Protiviti offices and on client sites, which can include local or out-of-state travel based on our projects and client requests and commitments.
Starting salary is based on a full-time equivalent schedule. Placement in the range is dependent upon experience, skills and geographic work location. Below is the salary range for this job.
$153,000.00 - $260,000.00
Our annual bonus plan provides eligible employees additional cash and/or discretionary stock compensation opportunities. Below is the bonus target opportunity for this job.

$177,480.00 - $301,600.00
