Full Job Description
As a Capital Infrastructure Lead, you will lead and manage the operational requirements of capital lifecycle initiatives with a focus on making lifecycle improvements, conducting business and financial planning and management. This position is also responsible for creating and maintaining relationships that assist in the achievement of outcomes that are in alignment with portfolio plans. Primary duties include: • Supervise staff including participating in hiring, assessing and managing performance and training, mentoring employees, supporting career development and rewarding staff. • Act as a project sponsor for small capital lifecycle projects that include managing financial resources, coordinating communications and ensuring goals and timelines are met. • Investigate and resolve issues that may require expanding the project scope or identifying new and related initiatives. • Collaborate with other Parks staff to ensure that capital lifecycle projects are aligned with cross-Parks capital and operating plans and participate in the selectionof projects related to specific activities and programs. • Provide expertise to project managers on how to deliver lifecycle projects more efficiently and effectively. • Liaise with external partners to capitalize on opportunities for maximizing and leveraging resources. Qualifications • A completed 1-year certificate such as Horticulture or Arboriculture or a Journeyman certificate such as Landscape Horticulture and at least 10 years of related experience; OR • A completed 2-year diploma such as Horticulture Technology or a related field and at least 8 years of related experience; OR • A degree in Applied Science-Horticulture or a related field and at least 4 years of related experience. • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered. • A valid class 5 driver's licence and a personal vehicle for business use is required. • Project, asset and contract management experience is considered an asset. • Previous experience in parks operations and parks design is also considered an asset. • Success in this position requires effective communication and leadership skills, strategic thinking ability and strong management and conflict resolution skills. Working Conditions: Occasional travel is required to attend job sites (for example: Parks or community associations) to observe project work.
