Full Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Capital Grant Consultant, Grant and Funding Relations, as the Capital Grant Coordinator, you will coordinate identifying, exploring, applying for, monitoring and reporting on grant and funding opportunities for a variety of asset types that The City has received grant funding for. Your focus will be on supporting project delivery through leveraging grants, financing, or other investment opportunities The City could apply for. You will liaise with capital and operating service lines who may have projects suitable for a grant or investment opportunity and support them through the process, from application to successful delivery. Primary duties include:
  • Proactively seek, coordinate and respond to grants, financing and/or collaboration opportunities for a variety of asset categories (i.e. Facilities/ Transportation/ Public Spaces/ Utilities). This includes developing, writing, and submitting detailed grant proposals, ensuring they meet the requirements of funding agencies.
  • Coordinate the delivery of grants and contribution funds for specific projects, from application stage through to claims, reporting and project close out stages.
  • Monitor, track, analyze and report on grant and funding opportunity progression, including assessment of success rates and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Research potential undeveloped opportunities and explore new funding options to pursue.


Qualifications

  • A completed 2-year diploma and at least 5 years of progressive experience in applied science, engineering, financial, project control, policy, marketing, law or related; OR
  • A degree and at least 3 years of progressive experience in applied science, engineering, financial, project control, policy, marketing, law, or related.
  • A general understanding of engineering consulting phases and construction processes is required.
  • Proven experience in managing the entire project and grant lifecycle - from design and selection to contract, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation - while effectively submitting information within urgent timeframes.
  • Experience with capital asset prioritization and investments is considered an asset.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), coupled with exceptional communication and executive writing skills.
  • Build strong, collaborative, and respectful relationships with internal project teams and external interested parties, including industry partners and funding agencies, through effective communication, conflict resolution, and timely reporting.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and financial acumen to mitigate risk while adhering to policies, procedures, and legislation.
  • Manage a robust portfolio to meet tight timelines and hard deadlines by effectively and efficiently prioritizing your workload in a dynamic and changing environment.

Working Conditions: Office environment with occasional site visits.
