Job DescriptionPosition Description:The Exploration Safety, Health and Security Specialist will provide technical guidance, and operational oversight to ensure effective implementation of integrated SHEC programs. Partners with Exploration leadership to proactively Identify and manage critical risks, strengthen safety culture, and reduce the likelihood of incidents with the objective of preventing fatalities and serious incidents, minimizing environmental impacts or property damage, while fostering positive community relationship and protecting the Company's LTO across all Canada. exploration activities. The salary for this position ranges from CA $97,000 - $109,000.
This position is located in Canada.
Responsibilities:- Ensure that all exploration activities in Canada are conducted in full compliance with corporate health and safety standards, as well as applicable federal, provincial, and local regulatory requirements.
- Participate in Management Assurance Reviews (MARs), internal audits, and field-based safety inspections across Canadian exploration projects.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System for exploration activities.
- Oversee the deployment and effectiveness of Fatal Risk Management processes and Life-Saving Controls relevant to exploration operations.
- Foster and embed a strong, proactive safety culture aimed at incident-free exploration activities.
- Participate in the design, implementation, and delivery of safety leadership, emergency response, and risk management training programs for employees and contractors.
- Review, analyze, and report monthly safety and health performance metrics for both company personnel and contractors.
- Reduce the probability and potential impact of incidents associated with high-risk exploration and contractor activities through effective risk identification, assessment, and control.
- Participate the implementation of occupational health programs, including industrial hygiene, health surveillance, and preventative health initiatives.
- Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the development and tracking of corrective and preventative action plans.
- Participate in the ownership of the Drilling Standard at Canada Exploration - implementation and monitoring
- Participate in the ownership of the emergency response plans at Canada Exploration
- Participate in the ownership of the light vehicle standard at Canada exploration - implementation and monitoring
- Participate in the ownership of the training and competence matrix at Canada Exploration
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Engineering, Geology, or a related field preferred
- Master's degree or professional safety certification (e.g., CSP, CIH, CRSP) preferred
- Minimum 5 years of experience in safety and health roles within mining or heavy industry preferred
- Demonstrated experience supporting exploration or mobile field operations strongly preferred
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, Canadian occupational health regulations required
- Proven ability to influence leaders and contractors and drive cultural change required
- Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills required
- High personal commitment to safety leadership and Barrick's DNA values-based performance required
