ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with organizational strategy, commitments, and goals. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party resources in order to deliver projects according to plan. Also responsible to define the projects objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle. Key attributes leading to the determination of upward progression in this career family include: project complexity, risk, team size, business volume, contract type, and political/client/business sensitivities.
In this role, the Project Manager 2 is expected to provide leadership for small to medium-risk projects, collaborating with cross-functional team members and partners; serving as a key interface with project stakeholders; and supporting changes in scope, schedule, and budget while ensuring alignment with project objectives.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Experience working within established quality assurance requirements for project planning, procurement, installation, inspection/testing, documentation, issue resolution, and turnover.
- Demonstrated ability to safely manage small to medium-risk projects with cross-functional project teams, including coordination with partners and stakeholders who may be geographically or organizationally dispersed.
- Experience supporting construction or facility-related project activities in commercial or industrial environments, including coordination with operations, work planning/control processes, and readiness/turnover expectations.
- Familiarity with Earned Value Management concepts and experience supporting cost and schedule tracking using structured project controls.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience interfacing with project stakeholders, partners, and internal sponsors.
- Experience developing project documentation, such as statements of work, project plans, schedules, and progress reports.
- Demonstrated ability to support multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively in hybrid teams with both onsite and remote staff.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
- BS/BA and 7+ years of relevant project management experience -OR-
- MS/MA or higher and 5+ years of relevant project management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in project management, construction management, engineering, or business administration preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to safely manage projects with cross-functional project teams and/or build teams that may be geographically and culturally dispersed.
- Construction industry experience in a commercial or industrial environment.
- Prior experience with U.S. Government [e.g., DOE (DOE O 413.3B)] project management, proposal, and financial policies, procedures, resources, and organizational structures.
- Prior experience with Earned Value Management System implementation.
- Experience inputting, tracking, and processing construction submittals and other documentation.
- Experience using ProCore Construction Management software (creating project templates, inputting construction contract documents, tracking submittals).
- Strong ability to organize large amounts of information and summarize for project portfolio reporting using multiple software tools.
