This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will be responsible for the calibration of Instrumentation and Measurement & Test Equipment used in the manufacture, test and launch of various rocket engine, spacecraft, and ground test systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of Blue Origin’s ability to develop, test and fly space vehicles and rocket engines through assurance of compliance and availability of these devices. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the local calibration team to maintain both compliance and satisfactory internal customer support
  • Decompose and interpret system level engineering and quality system requirements to establish calibration policies, procedures and requirements
  • Determining, Documenting and Communicating calibration requirements to technicians, customers and vendors
  • Authoring and approval of calibration procedures
  • Determine suitability of 3rd party vendors for specific calibrations, including evaluation of vendor uncertainty, reviewing equipment accuracy, and accreditation scope verification
  • Oversee quote requests, procurement and logistics for 3rd party calibrations
  • Oversight of calibrated tool data
  • Work with Suppliers to correct poor performance and correct instances of errors or non-compliance.
  • Work with internal customers to ensure proper calibration of new tool and system purchases
  • Work with the Blue Origin Calibration Team to develop calibration capabilities across all sites

Qualifications:

Required

  • BS in Science, Math, Engineering, Business Management or equivalent PMEL/Calibration industry experience
  • 2+ years’ experience in a calibration lab environment
  • 2+ years’ experience coordinating purchasing and logistic for 3rd party calibrations
  • Familiarity with the theory of operation of measurement and test equipment for various measurement applications
  • Familiarity with selection use and care of calibration standards
  • Experience developing, assembling, operating and maintaining calibration equipment systems
  • Experience with the calibration of analog output sensors
  • Experience with industry calibration standards (ANSI NCSL Z540.3, ISO/IEC 17025)
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired

  • Experience with industry quality and configuration control system methodologies (AS9100, ISO:9001)
  • Experience in customer service
  • Experience in an aerospace and defense manufacturing environment
  • Experience with coordination of large on-site calibration events
  • Experience designing and assembling calibration systems

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
