AT&T has an exciting opportunity for a Cable Engineer to play a key role in delivering reliable, mission-readycabling infrastructure in support of critical customer operations. This position will help shape installation, inspection, documentation, and training standards for structured cabling systems while partnering with technical teams to promote quality, consistency, safety, and operational excellence across the program.
The Cable Engineer will be responsible for the following:
- This position requires office presence a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located in the location(s) posted. No relocation is offered.
- Support the development, documentation, and continuous improvement of cable installation, termination, testing, and inspection standards.
- Develop and apply quality assurance inspection criteria to verify that cabling work meets program, customer, manufacturer, and industry requirements.
- Review field inspection reports, identify trends or deficiencies, and recommend corrective actions to improve installation quality and consistency.
- Provide passive cable infrastructure design support for project proposals, implementation planning, and field execution as required.
- Maintain awareness of applicable TIA/EIA, BICSI, manufacturer, and passive cable industry standards and communicate updates to relevant personnel
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver BICSI Information Technology Systems Cable Installation Program training, manufacturer training, and on-the-job technical coaching.
- Partner with Cabling Managers and Cabling Group Managers to support new technology implementation, field readiness, and workforce training needs.
- Develop and implement procedures that improve material utilization, labor efficiency, scheduling performance, quality assurance, and field productivity.
- Assist in developing work-around procedures that maintain quality and productivity during delays caused by other trades, customer dependencies, material constraints, or staffing impacts.
- Initiate, monitor, and reinforce installation standards through field engagement, jobsite observations, and practical training sessions.
- Serve as a technical interface with customers and clients during project quality inspections, status meetings, and issue resolution discussions.
- Prepare and present technical recommendations clearly and professionally to support decision-making, negotiation, and project execution.
- Pursue ongoing technical development through corporate, specialty, industry, or manufacturer training opportunities.
- Perform monthly Safety Coaching Observations and support a comprehensive safety program consistent with company policy and customer site requirements.

Required Qualifications:
Must have a high School diploma and 3 years of cable engineering experience.
- Required experience must demonstrate the ability to support structured cabling engineering, installation standards, quality assurance inspections, passive cable infrastructure design, and technical coordination in a mission-focused customer environment.
- Experience developing, documenting, or enforcing cable installation, termination, testing, and inspection standards.
- Working knowledge of structured cabling systems, passive cable infrastructure, and applicable industry standards such as TIA/EIA, BICSI, manufacturer guidance, and customer-specific requirements.
- Experience reviewing field inspection results, identifying quality or installation deficiencies, and recommending corrective actions.
- Ability to provide technical input for cabling design, project planning, implementation support, and field execution activities.
- Experience supporting technical training, on-the-job coaching, field readiness, or new technology implementation for cabling personnel.
- Ability to communicate technical recommendations clearly to customers, clients, managers, and field teams in support of inspections, status meetings, and issue resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to support process improvements related to material utilization, labor efficiency, scheduling, quality assurance, field productivity, and safety compliance.
