Responsibilities

  • Source materials for the IDCM and PIM Commodity sectors.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to achieve favorable terms.
  • Ensure sourcing activities are timely and meet target requirements.
  • Drive initiatives to achieve annual cost savings.
  • Manage and execute Monozukuri and Value Optimization activities for cost savings.
  • Develop and implement global commodity strategies.
  • Lead discussions to resolve and negotiate commercial issues, particularly related to Gap to Should Cost.

Full Job Description
The Buyer is responsible for but not limited to:
  • Sourcing activities supporting the IDCM and PIM Commodity
  • Supplier negotiations
  • Sourcing on time and to target
  • Driving annual cost savings activities
  • Managing and executing Monozukuri and Value Optimization activities for cost savings
  • Development and implementation of global commodity strategies
  • Lead the resolution and negotiation of commercial issues including Gap to Should Cost

The selected candidate will interact with many cross-functional teams such as engineering, supply chain management, supplier quality and finance.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Marketing, Economics, International Business, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Engineering, or equivalent from an AACSB accredited program; Other technical degrees with business background also considered
  • A minimum 4+ years of relevant purchasing experience or other disciplines that require significant negotiation/exposure to sourcing processes
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to think and act strategically
  • Strong communication, presentation and commodity leadership skills
  • Well organized, self-motivated, and resourceful managing complex situations
  • Ability to support all aspects of the commercial relationship with the supply base and key internal stakeholders
  • Must be skilled at relationship building, cost analysis, negotiation (both internal and external), benchmarking, time management and presentations to all levels of management
  • Strong use of MS Office Suite/G Suite

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA / Master's degree
  • Additional experience to support more challenging decks which would reflect in more advanced Purchasing Buyer levels including JIT or MPAB experience
  • Previous automotive related and/or global commodity experience
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Strong interest in the automotive industry
  • Experience working with PentaSAP
