Job DescriptionAbout This RoleThe Buyer is responsible for category strategy, supplier performance, and supply continuity supporting the manufacture of integrated power and power-conversion products. This role balances strategic sourcing and risk management with effective Purchase Order execution, working closely with engineering, operations, quality, and finance to ensure cost competitiveness, on-time delivery (OTD), compliance, and long-term supply resilience.
Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities- Responsible for Purchase Order execution to support production schedules and OTD targets.
- Owns resolution of material shortages impacting production and customer delivery by leading cross-functional (engineering, production, suppliers) escalation.
- Support the development and execute category strategies incorporating cost and valuation criteria, market intelligence, and risk considerations.
- Lead RFx (RFQ/RFP/RFI) activities, supplier selection, and commercial negotiations.
- Translate business and production needs into executable sourcing and procurement plans.
- Own supplier relationships and manage supplier KPIs, including OTD, quality, cost, and responsiveness.
- Lead supplier evaluation, qualification, and development activities.
- Coordinate and cross-check with suppliers when issues arise, driving corrective actions and performance improvement.
- Identify and mitigate supply risks related to capacity, lead times, obsolescence, and supply chain uncertainty.
- Ensure supplier compliance with sustainability requirements, trade regulations and internal policies.
- Support and advance sustainability initiatives across the supply base.
- Demonstrate strong technical specification literacy, including the ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings, interpret BOM structures, and implement on the supply base revision changes and engineering change orders.
- Partner with engineering and operations to ensure sourcing decisions meet technical, quality, and delivery requirements.
- Maintain accurate master data management, including pricing, lead times, HS classification, and primary/secondary sourcing.
- Investigate and resolve AP and invoice discrepancies with finance, suppliers, and warehouse operations.
- Drive continuous improvement tools, processes, and workflows within procurement and supply chain operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications, Experience, And Skills- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
- 5+ years of procurement or supply chain experience in manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience with category strategy, RFx processes, supplier qualification, and performance management.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working within ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 environments.
- Supply chain or continuous improvement certifications (APICS/ASCM, ISM, SCMP, Lean, Six Sigma) are an asset.
- Experience / expertise on EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) which cover the manufacturing electronics, PCBAs, Semiconductors.
