What we offer

The Buyer will be initially focused on identifying, qualifying and sourcing supplier options for volumetric modular construction, structural components (e.g. walls and floors) and cabinetry; supporting both the finalization of product design and launch of the SAMI factory. After launch of the factory, this role will lead sourcing activities or future production product launches, vendor/part management, and VA/VE initiatives contributing to continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Buyer will utilize strategic planning to factor market and demand analysis, identify risks and develop contingency plans. Through supplier selection & evaluation, the Buyer will negotiate to ensure they provide the most competitive advantage for the organization.

What you'll do
  • Work directly with engineering/program management across all product lines to identify vendors and develop effective sourcing strategies on production parts to optimize pricing, quality and supply base.
  • Support plant level sourcing requirements from an MRO standpoint.
  • Manage relationships with vendors to ensure overall performance and long-term partnership success.
  • Develop concise understanding of cost drivers, breakdowns per commodity.
  • Analyze and understand market trends to identify cost, supply opportunities.
  • Negotiate and develop supplier agreements to reduce total cost of ownership and optimize production efficiency.
  • Develop contingency plans for critical parts/suppliers.
  • Manage supplier production risks across all functions.
  • Conduct ongoing market tests (RFQs) to ensure competitive position for the organization.
  • Manage purchase price variance, cost avoidance to mitigate any market exposure (tariffs, cost increases, surcharges, rebates, etc.).
  • Work with quality and production to ensure no downtime and maintain continuous supply/quality requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.


What you bring
  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Management, Commerce, Economics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of experience and certifications.
  • 5+ years of experience in supply chain/sourcing within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Office, ERP supply chain systems.
  • Exposure to commodity markets & trends.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical and presentation skills.
  • Strong project management, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding and ability to read technical drawings.
  • Effective time management and problem-solving skills to mitigate risks and effectively meet program deadlines.
  • Ability to summarize strategies into a clear and concise narrative.

Compensation

The expected base salary range for this position is $70,000-$110,000. Actual pay may vary depending on your job-related knowledge, competencies, and skills. We recognize that exceptional situations may fall outside this range, and we encourage all interested candidates to apply.
