What You'll Do (Essential Job Functions):

The NPI Buyer is responsible for managing procurement activities that support New Product Introduction (NPI) programs from concept through production launch. This role works closely with Engineering, Program Management, Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, and Suppliers to ensure material availability, cost targets, and project schedules are achieved. The NPI Buyer serves as the primary purchasing representative for prototype, development, qualification, and pre-production builds. Essential job functions for this role include:

New Product Introduction Support

  • Manage procurement activities for NPI programs and engineering development projects.
  • Review engineering drawings, bills of material (BOMs), and material requirements to support prototype and production builds.
  • Source and procure raw materials, machine components, assemblies, tooling, and outside processing services.
  • Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and ensure timely implementation of design changes.
  • Coordinate material readiness to meet project milestones and customer delivery requirements.


Supplier Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers capable of supporting NPI requirements.
  • Obtain and analyze supplier quotations, lead times, and technical capabilities.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms to achieve cost and schedule objectives.
  • Monitor supplier performance and proactively resolve delivery, quality, and capacity issues.
  • Support supplier qualification and onboarding activities.


Project Coordination

  • Participate in NPI project meetings and provide procurement status updates.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Program Management, Planning, and Manufacturing to mitigate material risks.
  • Develop and maintain material tracking reports for prototype and production launches.
  • Escalate supply chain risks and propose recovery plans to maintain project schedules.


Procurement & Planning

  • Create and manage purchase orders in ERP systems.
  • Track purchase order status and expedite critical materials when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate supplier and procurement records.
  • Support inventory management initiatives and minimize excess or obsolete material.
  • Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures.


Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure purchased materials meet engineering specifications and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate supplier corrective actions when necessary.
  • Support First Article Inspection (FAI), FAIR, PPAP, and qualification requirements as applicable.
  • Maintain compliance with customer, regulatory, and company requirements

Your Experience (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 3-7 years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or NPI experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of BOMs, engineering drawings, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, industrial, automotive, or high-tech manufacturing preferred.
  • APICS/ASCM, CPSM, or CPM certification.
  • Experience with prototype, low-volume, and high-mix manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of supplier development and strategic sourcing.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or other quality management systems.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and provide appropriate documentation establishing identity and employment eligibility as required by applicable law.
  • Must qualify as a "U.S." Persons as defined in 22 CFR § 120.62 under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) in order to comply with applicable export control laws and regulations.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a drug screening in accordance with the Company's drug testing policy and applicable law.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a criminal background check in accordance with the Company's screening policy and applicable law.

Pay range: $100,000.00 - $110,000.00 based on qualifications and experience.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

The manufacturing facility may expose workers to loud noises, chemicals, and other occupational hazards; personal protective equipment is provided by The Company.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
