Full Job Description
SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Buyer position is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring raw materials, components, and services required to support production operations. The ideal candidate ensures on-time delivery of materials that meet quality standards while optimizing inventory levels and costs.

REPORTING TO: Director, Supply Chain and Compliance

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Purchasing & Procurement: Execute purchase orders for direct and indirect materials based on demand, forecast and replenishment signals, ensuring timely procurement of raw materials, electronics, and custom components
  • Supplier Management: Select, evaluate, and manage supplier relationships, maintaining an Approved Supplier List and conducting supplier performance reviews (scorecards). Support new supplier onboarding and qualification processes.
  • Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, lead times, and payment terms to achieve cost reductions and maximize Return on Investment (ROI).
  • Expediting: Monitor open POs, proactively follow up with suppliers, and expedite critical materials to prevent production shortages.
  • MRP Data Management: Maintain accurate purchasing data, lead times, MOQ, planning parameters and pricing in the MRP system. Support cycle count variance resolution and inventory accuracy efforts.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with production, planning, engineering, accounts payable and quality departments to align purchasing with production schedules and resolve discrepancies. Support engineering change orders (ECOs)
  • Compliance: Understand and adhere to quality standards, including ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and company purchasing policies. Support import compliance, supplier documentation and regulatory requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Assist in tracking supply chain metrics including Supplier On Time to Delivery, Purchase Price Variance, inventory metrics. Participates in the continuous improvement process by presenting problems and possible solutions to the appropriate personnel, may participate in lean, Kaizen events

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform this job successfully.
  • Systems Proficiency: Strong experience with MRP systems (JDE experience preferred).
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP) and ability to read technical drawings or Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Soft Skills: Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • 3-5+ years of purchasing/procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
  • Experience in metal stamping/forming manufacturing industry, preferred
  • APICS or CPSM certification, preferred.


Total Rewards
The compensation range for this position is $76,200.00 - $114,200.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
