Buyer - HV Battery Pack Commodity

In this position...
Ford Motor Company is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and skilled Supply Chain Manager to lead our High Voltage Battery Pack commodity responsibilities in support of our hybrid (HEV), Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV), and Electric Vehicle (EV) portfolio. This role will be responsible for the strategic sourcing, procurement, and supplier relationship management of HV battery components. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in automotive procurement (battery pack technology preferred), and complex global supply chain management, driving cost optimization, quality excellence, and supply security for our next-generation electrified vehicles. In this leadership role, you will have responsibility for end-to-end supply chain strategy which requires high level operational execution and effective team building / leadership skills to navigate a challenging supply base landscape. The candidate will collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, STA, MP&L, quality, and sustainability teams to ensure a resilient, cost-effective, and innovative battery pack component supply network.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...
  • Develop and execute the global supply chain strategy for high voltage battery pack commodities to support Ford's electrification roadmap (cooling lines / ribbons and externally purchased pack assemblies).
  • Cultivate and maintain robust supplier relationships with key contacts across your battery pack suppliers.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, ensure adherence to contractual agreements, and drive supplier performance across critical metrics (quality, delivery, cost, and technology).
  • Monitor vehicle trends and battery demand to proactively manage Ford performance against contractual supply agreements.
  • Drive strategic sourcing initiatives and dual sourcing strategies to reduce supply risk and total cost of ownership.
  • Work closely with engineering and STA to understand commodity technology and manufacturing processes and seek opportunities in design or manufacturing evolution for future cost or scalability improvements.
  • Monitor raw material trends, geopolitical risks, and market dynamics to proactively manage supply constraints.
  • Partner with sustainability teams to integrate ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) criteria into supplier selection and lifecycle sourcing decisions and drive supplier participation in key value chain traceability initiatives.
  • Optimize inbound and outbound logistics networks, lead times, and warehousing strategies for battery pack components.


Qualifications

You'll have...
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in supply chain, procurement, or operations related to EV batteries, pack commodities, or automotive manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of lithium-ion battery pack technology and materials, including upstream supply chain considerations.
  • Proven ability to manage complex supplier relationships and execute multifaceted negotiations.
  • Ability to travel domestically (and internationally) to supplier sites, manufacturing locations and vehicle program launches as needed.

  • Master's degree in supply chain management or business administration.
  • Experience with Ford internal systems, supply chain planning tools, and data analytics.
  • Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience working with a diverse, global supply base and multicultural teams.
  • Knowledge of Ford's internal systems and tools (e.g., FEDE BOM, Ariba, iERP, WERS, TVM ER) or equivalent
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills.

This position is a salary grade 6 and ranges from $74,300-$124,500.,

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900.,

This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$166,200.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.

This position is hybrid with a requirement to be onsite four or more days per week.
