Role: Buyer
Job DescriptionThe Buyer I serves as a junior procurement professional handling daily purchasing activities that support our business operations. This position focuses on executing standard procurement tasks, maintaining purchase order documentation, and coordinating with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
Key Responsibilities- Process daily queues of requisitions and convert them to purchase orders
- Collect and evaluate written proposals from vendors
- Conduct simple negotiations for pricing and general terms & conditions
- Resolve invoice discrepancies between purchase orders and goods receipts
- Approve invoice payments for additional freight costs not accounted for on purchase orders
- Liaise with strategic buyers regarding project or turnaround purchases and potential bundling opportunities
- Provide support to ensure timely invoice payment
- Perform purchase order maintenance (update PO text, delivery dates, etc.)
Required Skills & Qualifications- Basic understanding of procurement processes and Procure-to-Pay (PtP) cycles
- Proficiency in procurement systems and related software
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Customer-focused approach to problem-solving
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Basic negotiation and influencing skills
- Organizational skills to manage multiple requisitions simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications- Previous experience in procurement or supply chain
- Familiarity with contract development and management
- Understanding of total system cost concepts
- Experience with relationship management in a business context
- Knowledge of controls and compliance in procurement
Role Details:Location: Spring, TX
Pay: $46.81/hr
Schedule: Monday-Friday (40 hours/week)
