Full Job Description
Overview

We are looking for a Buyer to join our team, who will be responsible for the procurement of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS), special order, and build-to-print material to meet our project schedules.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and initiate Request for Quotations (RFQ’s).
  • Evaluate quotations, negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Select qualified suppliers by using best sourcing practices.
  • Execute Purchase Orders with suppliers and monitor the status of the deliverables to mitigate quality issues and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Proactively coordinate purchasing activities with production control, quality, project managers, and engineering to meet project requirements and schedules and identify risk(s).
  • Conduct supplier recertifications, assessments, and relationship management activities to ensure strong and consistent supplier performance.
Qualifications

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
  • 7+ years of relevant experience; or
  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to the above

Preferred Knowledge / Ability:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of buying, replenishment strategies, contracts, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to write, edit, and amend contracts preferred.
  • Ability to create a collaborative environment.
  • Experience working in a project-based business or new product development.
  • Ability to read and interpret requirements from technical information and drawings. Mechanical design knowledge preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications and ERP and MRP software.
  • Commodity related experience with build to print fabricated steel and machined parts, electrical, electronic, and specialty measurement equipment, Valves, pumps, hoses, and associated items, Hardware, and other items as designed.
