About The Position

The Business Performance Specialist supports the activities of Ameren Illinois, providing financial analysis and statistical information to assist with financial planning and reporting throughout the business segment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and submit the annual budget, research and offer advice to resolve any significant variances between actual and budgeted expenditures.
  • Provide monthly forecast of expenditures, provide analytical and statistical information to ensure the most effective utilization of personnel, equipment and materials for the area of responsibility.
  • Provide performance assessments for all projects and research and resolve any significant variances between actual expenditures and budget.
  • Produce and review internal financial and operational reports; respond to ad-hoc report requests and provide statistical analysis for business performance assessment.
  • Provide financial consultation, compliance and oversight by assisting with real-time funding reallocation (portfolio management-capital and O&M).
  • Assist department with special projects as assigned including preparation of specialized reports and confidential documents.
  • Assist in the development of department/segment procedures to ensure compliance with corporate policies.
  • Coordinate the submission of all work order related documentation.
  • Analyze various source systems and their data for the purpose of making recommendations in process changes to drive consistency and to improve future reporting and analysis.
  • Develop and submit monthly accruals and interface with Plant Accounting.


Qualifications - Business Performance Specialist

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field from an accredited college or university required. Master's Degree or CPA/CMA preferred. Three or more years of relevant accounting experience (accounting, budget preparation, and statistical analysis) required without CPA certification. One or more years of relevant accounting experience (accounting, budget preparation, and statistical analysis) required with CPA certification.

Qualifications - Senior Business Performance Specialist

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field from an accredited college or university required. Five or more years of relevant accounting experience (accounting, budget preparation, and statistical analysis) required. Master's Degree or CPA/CMA/CFA preferred.

Qualifications - Lead Business Performance Specialist

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related field from an accredited University required. CPA, CFA, MBA or similar advanced degree in business, finance, or economics preferred. Seven or more years of relevant professional experience required.

Working knowledge of Word and an advanced level of proficiency in Excel required; Working knowledge of specific Ameren applications (UIP, General Ledger, Power Plant, IMR/OAC, EMPRV, Oracle Systems, Maximo, TRIS, etc.) preferred; Good organizational, problem solving, analytical, communication and human relation skills required; Demonstrated ability to monitor reports, solve problems and be decisive, proactive and self-motivated; Must be able to work independently on multiple tasks requiring priority setting and deadlines; Must show initiative and attention to detail and work well in a team environment.

Compensation Range:
$71,100.00 - $144,500.00

* This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant's credentials.

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
