Business Operations Lead

Purpose & Scope

The Business Operations Lead provides support in the site's Finance, Site Operations, Operational Excellence, and Project Coordination functions. This role is responsible for financial planning and reporting, operational readiness and day-to-day site support, and coordination of critical cross-functional initiatives and governance routines.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Manages site finance operations, including budgeting/forecasting support, cost tracking, variance analysis, and routine financial reporting in partnership with Finance.
  • Responsible for working directly with divisional finance and global business system leads to ensure annual spending and associated finance practices are accurate, up to date, and within compliance.
  • Develops cost models for all production assets, asset purchases, and inventory management to be used in decision making, strategic analysis, and long-range planning.
  • Manages site capital requests, working with finance support groups to generate accounting codes, assign depreciation categories, and track project completion.
  • Responsible for developing and reporting financial metrics to monitor plant performance and measure productivity.
  • Defines and manages cost allocation methods used in product asset cost reporting, production planning, budget forecasting, and program valuations.
  • Collaboratively partners with site leadership staff, BioPharma Manufacturing Finance Business Partner, Global Business System Lead, and BioPharma Manufacturing HR Business Partner to maintain financial alignment and compliance across the MA-TC site.
  • As appropriate, will join cross-functional project teams with US/International Program Heads and finance partners to support broader PDM/Biopharma Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Delivers high-level report updates to site SLT and broader forums as required.
  • Supports site leadership with annual goal setting and budgetary planning activities targeting facility sustainable margin optimization related to cost of goods and/or other sustainable margin targets.
  • Supports operational excellence by establishing and improving standard work, KPIs/dashboards, governance cadences, and continuous improvement routines across business operations.
  • Plan and execute logistics for site meetings and events (e.g., town halls, leadership meetings, onboarding sessions), and day-of support.
  • Establish and maintain governance forums (i.e. tier meetings) and ensure decisions, actions, and outcomes are documented and closed on time.
  • Proactively executes supplementary responsibilities, special assignments, and operational tasks that emerge, ensuring alignment with the role's scope and organizational priorities.


Required Qualifications
  • B.S. or M.S. in engineering, sciences, business, supply chain, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in business operations, finance, and project management in a regulated industry.
  • Strong understanding of MPS, MRP, capacity analysis, and planning constraints in GMP manufacturing.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to drive structure and governance in ambiguous or fast-scaling environments.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree with emphasis on life sciences, purchasing, supply chain, and/or pharmaceutical business
  • Experience supporting biomanufacturing operations
  • Experience with Oracle and SAP financial allocation and reporting systems
  • Experience in a fast-paced company with high growth potential


Location and Working Environment

This position is based in Westborough, MA.
  • This is an on-site role working in a cGMP regulated manufacturing facility.
  • On occasion, this role may travel to other manufacturing facilities (0-5%)
  • This is subject to change based on critical business requirements.


Salary Range

$105,280-150,400 (Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and organizational equity considerations)
