Summary

Employee will serve as a Business Manager, Chief Health Administration Service (HAS) located at the Veterans Healthcare System in Sioux Falls, SD.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide leadership, oversight and guidance, and program management over the major core business operations of various departments in the medical center. Duties will include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Supervises and follows Human Resources related processes in hiring, disciplining and monitoring performance of staff.
  • Directs and coordinates administrative support for clinical service lines in the implementation of business-based applications.
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of the organization and serves as a key contact for business office operations and programs.
  • Plans, schedules and carry out major projects.
  • Maintain connections internally and externally with officials at all levels.
  • Provide customers with consistent information according to established policies and procedures.
  • Participates in various committees and leadership activities.
  • Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer, constructively and appropriately.
  • Plans, organizes and directs the ongoing development of all functions of the sections within HAS.
  • Oversees and manages strategic planning, auditing and compliance activities to enhance the mission of all departments.
  • Identifies requirement for funding, staffing, space, privacy, and technology to support the programs and delivery services to patients.
  • Directing the utilization of financial and staff resources and designs strategies to manage and integrate functions to improve and maximize efficiencies.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary.


Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Telework: This position may be authorized for ad-hoc telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Requires one full year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: providing leadership, oversight, guidance, and program management to the business operations of a medical center; overseeing processes in hiring, disciplining and monitoring performance of staff; identifying requirements for funding, staffing, space, privacy and technology to support the programs and delivery of services; handling and resolving conflict and problems that occur; and directing the utilization of financial and staff resources.
