DutiesThe Business Intelligence (BI) Developer supports the design, development, and delivery of BI solutions that enable access to reliable, well-structured information in support of FINTRAC's financial intelligence, supervision, and corporate priorities. Working under the direction of a Senior BI Analyst or manager, the position contributes to the delivery and ongoing operation of dashboards, reports, and analytics products that support operational and strategic decision-making.
The role focuses on applying established BI development and data visualization practices to transform structured data into meaningful insights through dashboards, reports, and semantic data models. The BI Developer supports data quality validation, metadata alignment, and performance monitoring of BI products, while contributing to technical documentation and continuous improvement initiatives. In collaboration with technical teams and business stakeholders, the position helps translate reporting requirements into intuitive, scalable BI solutions, supports ad-hoc analysis, and promotes data accessibility and self-service capabilities within a secure, governed, and performance-focused enterprise data environment.
Work environmentFINTRAC is a separate agency and has its own classification system. This position is classified as FC-05 and is generally comparable to (but not an exact equivalent of) the IT-02 group and level.
This position requires onsite presence at FINTRAC headquarters (234 Laurier Avenue West, Ottawa, Ontario) a minimum of three (3) days per week, with the remaining workdays completed remotely, where operationally feasible. Onsite presence may increase beyond three (3) days per week based on operational requirements.
Intent of the process The intent of this process is to staff one (1) term position of up to three (3) years.

Conditions of employment Top Secret security clearance - Candidates must be Canadian citizens and eligible to obtain a Top Secret security clearance in accordance with FINTRAC's standards.

You need (essential for the job) Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following EDUCATION:
ED1 - Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution (e.g., college or university) with acceptable specialization in:
• Computer science
• Information technology
• Information management
• Business intelligence, data analytics
• Or a related discipline relevant to the position to be staffed
EXPERIENCE:
E1 - Two (2) or more years of experience developing and maintaining BI solutions (e.g., dashboards, reports, or semantic models), including writing queries and performing data transformations (e.g., SQL), in a production environment, in accordance with established standards.
E2 - Experience working with structured and unstructured data sources (e.g., relational databases, data warehouses, data lakes) to support reporting or analytics needs.
E3 - Experience collaborating with technical teams and/or business stakeholders to understand data requirements and contribute to business intelligence or reporting solutions.
E4 - Experience contributing to documentation for BI products, including reports, dashboards, data models, or workflows.

K2 - Knowledge of structured data concepts (relational databases, data structures).
