POSITION OVERVIEW
The Business Intelligence Architect leads the design and implementation of the Sheriff's Office enterprise business intelligence and analytics environment. This role transforms governed enterprise data into dashboards, reports, and visualizations that support executive decision-making, operational performance, and public safety. Working closely with Data Platforms, Technology Governance, and business stakeholders, the BI Architect establishes enterprise reporting standards, semantic data models, and analytics capabilities while ensuring security, scalability, and data integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designs and maintains the enterprise business intelligence architecture and reporting strategy
  • Develops scalable semantic data models, key performance indicators, and certified enterprise datasets
  • Builds executive dashboards and operational reports using Microsoft Power BI and related technologies
  • Establishes visualization standards, reporting governance, and analytics best practices
  • Implements security and access controls across the reporting landscape
  • Optimizes dashboard performance, data models, and reporting infrastructure
  • Collaborates with business units to identify analytics needs and translate them into actionable insights
  • Supports emerging capabilities including real-time analytics, AI-enabled reporting, and predictive analytics

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Five (5) or more years of experience designing enterprise business intelligence and analytics solutions

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Power BI, SQL, DAX, and dimensional data modeling
  • Experience developing enterprise dashboards, KPIs, and executive reporting. Knowledge of data warehousing, semantic modeling, and BI governance
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to business and executive stakeholders

PREFERENCES

  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, or Microsoft Purview
  • Experience supporting public sector or public safety organizations
  • Familiarity with CJIS security requirements and enterprise data governance
  • Familiarity with AI tools affecting business intelligence reporting

• This position operates primarily in a professional office setting.
• Standard use of computers, phones, printers, and related technical equipment.

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

Position Type: Professional Staff, Full-time, Exempt
Work Schedule: Typically Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Hours may vary based on the department's business needs.
